The Pittsburgh City Paper recently ran a review of “The Season.”
By Andy Mulkerin
“Nice, light tunes, mostly acoustic guitar-based. Topics range from the usual looking-for-love stuff to more heady material, like the Civil War. McLaughlin’s vocals aren’t the strongest, but he seems to understand that, and doesn’t try to overdo it. (Though maybe bringing an opera singer on board for backup vocals isn’t the best idea when that’s the case!) Great guitar work, and there’s a nice original Christmas song thrown in for good measure.” - PIttsburgh City Paper

Bio
Jack McLaughlin is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and elementary music educator from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His first solo album, The Season, represents a wide range of musical styles, from bosa nova to country rock to acoustic blues. Having studied with renowned jazz guitarist Joe Negri at Duquesne University, he incorporates a strong melodic and harmonic approach to solos in a jazz/blues vein. Much of the rhythm guitar work can be traced to a long and varied musical background, which includes a stint backing up Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love. He has also performed and recorded for Carnival Cruise Lines in addition to playing in the orchestral pit for the musicals Pippin and Jesus Christ Superstar.
