Every once in a while we get a submission from a Sacramento artist we’ve never heard of and it blows us away. Such is the case when we received this one, “Never Frontin”, from female rapper Tootie. She says she’s been doing music for about 5 years now and also explains, “This track originated from a time where I was really out here hustlin trying to find a way. It feel like all the odds were against me and I was having a little trouble with the law, which had me on my toes. At the end of the day with all the snakes in the grass I knew I had my people by my side down for whatever and I had to sit back and really appreciate them like, ya’ll ‘Never Frontin’.” Fucking fire. A Sacramento native, Laurene ( Lil Tootie ) Hearn grew up traveling the United States as a basketball player while maintaining an honor status in school. She also quickly became the family and team entertainer performing everything from songs, to comedy skits, dances and much more. Once in college she finally felt the freedom to take her music to the next level and begin to record.
Lil Tootie got her first buzz when she dropped her freestyle " Set It Off' showing people she can be respected as a rapper and not just a basketball player. Since then, she’s gone on to release multiple singles such as "With You", "Drip", "Money", "NineSixteen" and her latest single "Roof".Her music connects R&B and Hip Hop with her ability to rap story-telling bars, with melodic vocals behind those vocals, creating a new sound for the Hip Hop game. She has worked with producers such as: Juneonnabeat, Yung Pear, and Nonbruh to create some of her most popular singles.
Lil Tootie not only raps but has her own brand that focuses on females empowerment called Females Hustle Too (FHT). With her brand she has created a movement and a platform for female: artist, photographers, models, designers, and creatives to come together as a collective and work together to help all women succeed at their dreams. Lil Tootie is not only the next big star, but a scholar (Biology major), and a community activist who has a deep love for her city and her music.
