"Innascent, "Time Frozen""

This video comes from a local talent named Innascent, who is not just an emcee but a producer and musician as well. We got a press release about this artist, and the video attracted our attention. The video, “Time Frozen,” which is shot by local directors The Brownstonerz, goes through a day in Innascent's life and focuses on the extra-curricular. The way this video was shot will give you the idea that Innascent was feeling “elevated” throughout the video--it's very creative and visually entertaining. This track comes off of his project titled Turnt Up Fastlyfe, which can be found HERE. - RVA MAGAZINE

"**CERTIFIED 6**"

DMV: @Innascent – Open Eyes

When Innascent sent me his latest project I took a listen like I always do, but like all the songs on the Cert6 it stands out. The whole joint was dope with many different flows and bangin/unique beats, but this song imparticular caught my ear the most. Not only is the message there but the whole formula ties together beat/lyrics/flow #Certified.

"Slow Burn: Innascent Mixtape Review"

Let’s dive into this one head first. It starts off with shoutouts to local businesses in Richmond, Va as it should since the name is Half My City Rich. How many did you hear? Too many to count. But you can never knock a man for repping where he’s from. The one question that I have is: who produced Higher? The beat is so freaking dope. I really just want to hear that instrumental on heavy rotation while getting faded, and maybe getting it in too. Speaking of weed, Loud is for the chiefs and chokers. I wouldn’t mind listening to it while getting blazed, too. It’s reminiscent of a 36Mafia track.

I heard references to tiger blood more than once. Tiger blood became irrelevant months ago and even then I didn’t find it remotely cool. But maybe I missed something. And I’m not even trying to be funny but was Plainz purposely misspelled? Was Innascent trying so desperately not to sound like Wiz that he decided to add a vowel? And I believe niggas stopped robbing old biddies back in the early nineties. Niggas ain’t about that life nowadays.

The track I liked the most was Makalonistdadank. It reminds me of the perfect but worst song to play while getting high. You know that song you listen to when you’re high and horny, but in no position to get off. You’re probably with your homies and the bootycall ain’t answering. Pure fuckery. The skit at the end had me dying with laughter. He took her to a hotel on the South though? Lol. I guess that’s where these niggas take the whores. Take notes ladies. If he starts riding down Hull Street after the club, you know how highly he thinks of you.

As I’m writing this, I feel like this is a decent tape to listen to while getting faded. Then, I look at the title. It fits perfectly. - Kazonya Mosby

Bio

Born Anthony Grimes in Maryland in the 80's, and raised in Richmond, VA, Innascent is a multi-talented MC, producer, engineer, and song writer. Innascent describes his main goal to change the whole look and sound of music, through experimental techniques and blending of genres. A self-described music junky, Innascent has been an MC since the tender age of nine. He has made a name for himself in the "DMV", as well as North Carolina, working with many underground artists - all the while remaining a solo act. Influenced by rappers such as Nas, Three 6 Mafia, and Eminem, Innascent continues to grow in his craft by diligent sharpening of his mental tool, freestyling and writing for unsigned artists. His production/beat engineering has been likened to Timbaland, Quincy Jones, and Juicy J & Dj Paul and is committed to introducing new styles and evolving in his music production. Creative and determined, versatile and imaginative, Innascent is the all in one artist of the future.
