"The Tap Pre-Show: See IAMDYNAMITE perform in our studio"

Rock duo IAMDYNAMITE stopped by the Tap Milwaukee studios to perform "Stereo" from its debut album "Supermegafantastic." The band is headlining the Rave Thursday night. Photo by Rick Wood.

With a name like IAMDYNAMITE, you're essentially required to deliver explosive rock, and the guitar-drum duo from Michigan certainly does with powder keg pop rock tunes from debut album "Supermegafantastic." (No space between words for these guys, no sir.)

But when IAMDYNAMITE came to the Tap Milwaukee studios Thursday to perform ahead of its headlining show at the Rave, drummer Chris Phillips came in not with some massive, Bonham-worthy drum kit--but clutching a single tiny egg shaker. But the band still delivered with an acoustic take of toe-tapping, Police-inspired track "Stereo."

See the performance, and you can see IAMDYNAMITE headline the Rave Thursday night. Tickets are $10, show starts at 7:30 p.m. - Journel Sentinel Tap

"“WHERE WILL WE GO” BY IAMDYNAMITE – THE SONG OF THE WEEK FOR 9/24/2012"

The music Gods act in mysterious ways sometimes. So there I am listening to my local radio station last week and a song came on that I instantly loved: catchy, good beat, unique, rocking and I had know idea who it was. Unfortunately the DJ didn’t mention who it was and I was left wondering if I would ever come across this song again because I thought it had potential to be a Song of the Week selection here on MusicTrajectory. Luckily I came across the song again when I was checking one of my favorite websites, AlternativeAddition.com for some of the latest songs to be released. I was blindly listening to some of the newer songs to be posted to the site and happened to find the song I had heard on the radio! It turned out to be “Where Will We Go” by IAmDynamite and now it is your Song of the Week. These guys are good, I definitely recommend checking out the album.
“Where will we go
I’ve got no bright idea
Where we go, I don’t know
Til the last good time
Where will we go
I’ve got no bright idea
Where we go, I don’t know
Til the last good time” - Music Trajectory

"IAMDYNAMITE: Help donate on PledgeMusic!"

IAMDYNAMITE is recording their second album and they want you to be apart of it. This will be the most important album of their lives after releasing their debut album SUPERMEGAFANTASIC in 2012. I met Chris and Chris in Jacksonville, Florida last summer during a show at The Landing. It was my first time seeing IAMDYNAMITE live after hearing them being played heavily on the radio in Jacksonville. Both of them took the time to speak with every fan, not just doing a routine, but they were actually engaged and took their time getting to know every person that wanted to meet them. They played an amazing show that day and because they were such caring people, I never forgot it, which is why I’m taking the time to help this amazing band in creating a new album. Every little bit helps and brings them closer to their goal. A donation of just $10 will get you a digital copy of the entire new album. Other donations will get you exclusive gifts, even a house concert. These are some of the coolest gifts for donating to an album.

"Supermegafantastic | Iamdynamite"

3.5/5 stars
It's easy to get caught up by the fact that Iamdynamite consists of just one guitarist/vocalist, Christopher Martin; and one drummer Chris Philips. Yes, there are the obligatory references to White Stripes, Black Keys and their ilk. But surely by now, we can accept that the two-person band aggregation is no longer a novelty. Especially on a platform where multi-tracked recording is available. Of course, the bottom line as always is: Are the songs any good? Well, certainly on that count, Supermegafantastic goes some way to living up to its its bloated promise. Without relying too much on the standard garage rock cliches, Iamdynamite manages to deliver a strong album of melodic, throbbing, bouncy tracks; the highlights of which include the feisty Carolina, the frenetic Where Will We Go, the hypnotic Hi Lo and the strangely fragile Annie. Definitely a band to watch out for in the modern rock wasteland. - Today On Line

"The Viewfinder: IAMDYNAMITE “Stereo”"

I am pretty sure that duos are the new quartets in modern rock music. If that is untrue then nobody told IAMDYNAMITE who rock harder than most and have the most fitting name considering their music is downright incendiary. On “Stereo”, IAMDYNAMITE deliver a hard rocking three and a half minutes of foot stomping, hand clapping furiousness (Pretty sure this isn’t a word).

The video for “Stereo” is liable to give you seizures not because it’s strobe filled and flashy but because the rawk that IAMDYNAMITE bring will likely turn your brain into mush and render you a useless pile of drool in front of your computer.

Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

IAMDYNAMITE’s debut album, SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC, is out on June 5th. - Pop! Blerd

"Concert review and set list: Getting crazy with Sum 41, Hunter Valentine and Iamdynamite at Pop's, Tuesday, January 29"

Iamdynamite was accompanied to the stage by Willie Wonka's ingenious poetry. Via audio clip, Gene Wilder uttered the immaculate "And they're certainly not showing, any signs of slowing" to cue the duo. Immediately following, the pair broke into excellent single "Where Will We Go." The song, a blast of energy, rather honestly exemplifies the band's sound -- I highly recommend popping a Dramamine and checking out the video.
The next song lifted the "ooh's" from "Maneater" and exposed a possible debt to Hall & Oates. Not ones to take themselves too seriously -- the band name's a Nietzsche nod -- the guys broke into a light-jazz interlude. Responding in kind, the crowd put a teen in pajamas up to crowdsurf along. Celebrating his birthday in a Vintage Vinyl t-shirt, Chris Philips, the drummer, even got an impromptu "Happy Birthday" out of the crowd. - KDHX

"concert review IAMDYNAMITE July 7th Philadelphia PA - 104.5 Summer Block Party Series at The Piazza!"

Earlier, this spring, I was turned onto SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC and I loved it the first time I heard it.

The interwebs say the sounds is "Exploding with thunderous beats and crunching power chords, IAMDYNAMITE establish themselves as a two-piece rock and roll force to be reckoned with on their debut LP SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC. Armed with a single guitar, a basic drum kit and locked-in harmonies, the energy from the duo burns through speakers and electrifies off the stage whenever IAMDYNAMITE unleashes their unprecedented brand of noise."

I gave my two cents back in March, when I gave the FREE MUSIC ALERT out to the Root Down In The Shadow readers. I loved the album then, and it still is finding a happy home in my steady rotation, despite new songs coming in every week.

I just missed their Philly date in early June by one day as I was coming back from a vacation, but when I saw the notice of the the Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party Series at The Piazza with The Dirty Heads & Steppin' Razor, I was pumped!

Steppin' Razor got the crowd moving despite the incredible heat. The unexpected Tool 'Sober' cover from the Groove driven reggae/rock band was a perfect cap to prepare for IAMDYNAMITE

Coming out at 100degrees, IAMDYNAMITE had the crowd going from the very first song. The Detroit based band did their best to provide a great facsimile of the album quality despite the sweltering heat Chris & Chris teased of actually playing 'Free Bird' for "that guy", but stuck the album + an impromptu Happy Birthday. 'OEO' was crisp, and set capper 'Ms. Jones' was had a killer bass pedal stomp, drum solos, extra guitar riffs for an all out extreme rock out.

Set List - IAMDYNAMITE
July 7th, Philadelphia, Pa

1. Where Will We Go
2. Riot In The Neon Light
3. Hi Lo..
4. Carolina
5. Stereo
6. OEO... Crisp..
7. Hey Girl
8. Ms. Jones. - Root Down in the Shadow

High-energy duo IAMDYNAMITE will be joining Sum 41 on the Canadian punk rockers' upcoming North American tour. The jaunt begins 10/31 in Indianapolis, IN and concludes 12/16 in Austin, TX, where the band will be playing a Christmas radio show. Their debut album, Supermegafantastic, was released earlier this year and the two Chrises have spent all summer slaying crowds across the U.S. and Europe, winning raves for their sweaty, intense live performances.

The duo rocks as hard as a band three times their size!

When Chris Martin (guitar/vocals) and Chris Phillips (drums/vocals,) the animated personalities who make up IAMDYNAMITE, aren't busy wooing fans with their raucous live performances or exchanging sweaty hugs with new friends on the road, they keep themselves busy making cool music videos. Their latest clip, "Where Will We Go," takes viewers on a wild ride (on a two-person bicycle!) through the lens of a GoPro camera. The manic black and white video for "Stereo," the radio hit that put Supermegafantastic on the map, is reminiscent of the White Stripes and showcases IAMDYNAMITE's unique brand of infectious rock.

"IAMDYNAMITE, “Stereo” FREE MP3 OF THE DAY"

Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “I am no man, I am dynamite.” From this amazing quote IAMDYNAMITE draw their name. Knowing this, one might expect the group to be another pretentious literary act, but once you hear the hard hitting guitar riffs of “Stereo” it’s obvious that there’s nothing precious about these guys.

A streamlined musical unit, IAMDYNAMITE are a duo consisting of a guitar and a drum kit. They don’t seem to be lacking for other members, between the two of them they manage to make to create a huge sounding rock tracks.

The musicianship is solid, the tunes are infectious with their sense of urgent energy. If nothing else, this music is fun. And you can tell that they are having fun playing it. The band’s distinctive sound is influenced, in part, by what Drummer Chris Phillips calls “the power rock of the 90s”, and Guitarist/ Lead Vocalist Christopher Martin points to “strong melodies and lots of energy” as a primary focus for the songwriting.

“Power” and “Energy” – those two words sum their sound pretty well. They certainly do justice to their name.

Bio

IAMDYNAMITE is the musical duo comprised of Christopher Martin and Chris Phillips, originally from Michigan and now calling North Carolina home.
IAMDYNAMITE’s albums, SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC and WASA TUSA, show the bands broad musical range from fast paced, anthemic, catchy, chanting rock, to the soft synth pop you imagine you would ride off into the sunset listening too. Both albums highlight their melodic, hook-laden songwriting skills and both deliver on all emotional fronts.
IAMDYNAMITE has seen success with charting songs “Where Will We Go” and “Hey Girl” off SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC, which combined spent over 25 weeks in the Top 20 Billboard Alternative chart. Followed by “In The Summer” off WASA TUSA, debuting on the Charts as well! These being a massive accomplishment from the virtually, up to that point, unknown band out of Ann Arbor, MI.
The Chris’s have been writing, recording, and performing new material, which combines the bombastic energy of SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC and the well-crafted musicality of WASA TUSA.
