Bio
Hwy Lions reach out to many influences and styles, while never forgetting their roots; roots that have proven strong. Over the years they have shaped together a solid sound and have recently been busy recording in downtown Shreveport's Foxtrot Studios. The new material evokes a sense of modernity and retro vibes in a unique combination of timeless sensibility. Heart and soul weigh heavy on, "The Wheel" sophomore release from these Louisiana natives.
The Lions began 2014 by releasing a music video for the song, "It's That Easy" and playing a string of local shows and festivals while brewing up the new batch of tunes. The band looks forward to playing more live shows in the coming year. Taking pride in putting on a unique live set is something held dear to this group. The Lions took to Texas for a week long tour last Summer in promotion of cuts from their debut album, "Travelin' On," which was released April 13, 2013.
The band traces back to cousins, Chris DeRosia (lead guitar) and Daniel Goodwill (rhythm guitar/vocals) picking up their guitars at about age ten and running with it, learning Beatles songs, as well as, more contemporary artists like Nirvana.
After a few band short-lived transitions the cousins asked long time friend, Stephen Emery (drums,) to join the circus. Several years later the group found the right fit for its fourth member in Michael Chreene (bass/ vocals), bringing together a foundation with solid bass runs and a complementary vocal stylings.
The group has played alongside J. Roddy Walston & the Business, Dawes, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and most recently of Montreal.
