A product of Paso Robles, CA, a coastal town not normally noted as a hotbed for hip-hop artist, HowFlyy is not only the face of his hometown, but a cornerstone in its foundation as well. Now 23 years old, he was first introduced to music through both his father and grandfather, who were fueled by the Funk and Soul music of their time. Further feeding his interests by mixing records on his family’s PC, HowFlyy took the next seemingly logical step and began rapping by the time he hit middle school, building what was a longtime hobby into a passionate life pursuit once becoming a sophomore in college.
Having been heavily influenced by Jazz, Soul, Dub and Blues music throughout his childhood, the variation in sounds and genres fostered his own artistic versatility and creative chemistry. Continuing to fan the flames by listening to Big L, Nas, Ice Cube, Wutang and Lil Wayne, his ambition led him to cutting his first records with a former roommate, who was then a DJ as well. Paying homage to his hip-hop roots through his style and delivery, while embracing the new age club energy and grimier trap production, HowFlyy balances and bridges time periods like a history teacher.
A hybrid of different genres and several decades of hip-hop, HowFlyy is a futuristic blend of both past and present, highlighting the best qualities in each era. Energizing in the booth, emphatic on stage, and an entertainer at heart, he is an artistic assortment of flavor and skill yet to be relished.
