Bio
Hi-ker is a progressive four-piece indie-rock group based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band sprouted from close friendships formed by a shared interest in the arts. This led to a mutual respect amongst members that formed an egalitarian ideology in the music writing process, encouraging a more collaborative creative environment. Hi-ker's sound stems from their experimentation with traditional pop structures. This is accomplished by the use of multiple hooks being fused to form one cohesive and natural work. The band's focus on allowing ideas to develop outside the standard format brings a fresh direction to songwriting. The initial perception of hi-ker's music is light-hearted: characterized by melodic vocals and energetic instrumentation. However, the music contains deeper themes rooted in social commentary and interpersonal relationships.
