"Last night, a music buddy who has some great taste introduced me to a trio from Milwaukee named Hemispheres, and I proceeded to get drawn into the indie rock outfit’s terrific Refuge EP. While I gravitate towards quite a few gems off the release, which you can stream in full here, I find that one of my favorite tunes off the record is a surf rock meets emo charmer named Sing For The Sun. It’s an endearing blend of The Decemberists with alt acts like Ludo, Relient K, and Death Cab, all topped off with some Best Coast. Hemispheres is an energetic alternative three piece out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin consisting of Timothy Wolf, Jesse Carl and James Suchorski. The group came together in early 2014 as an outlet for the many different styles and variations of influence that brings the trio's statement together. Striving to write music that tells a detailed story, Hemispheres collects inspiration from a large spectrum of music stretching from indie and pop all the way to psych rock and grunge interpretations. Hemispheres has been described as “Firm alt rock cut with euphoric chorus[es] and towering vocals” (50 Third And 3rd)
As multi-instrumentalists, every member of the band contributes to the composition and lyricism of each song. Timothy Wolf, winner of the 2012 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, is a well-rounded producer who works to arrange those song ideas in a creative manor to grasp the attention of the listener.
In the spring of 2015, the group released their debut single "Sing For The Sun" along with an accompanying video, followed by an EP titled "Refuge" shortly thereafter in the summer of the same year, garnering positive press by fans and blogs such as Turn Up The Volume, I Heart Moosiq, Breaking And Entering and 50 Third And Third. "Sing For The Sun is one of those lulling, emotionally raw treats that I tend to get utterly lost in." (I Heart Moosiq).
Hemispheres strives to make ripples at all levels of music that will certainly treat both sides of the brain and make you more conscious and aware of yourself and surroundings.
