Halo:  The
Real Me

Miguel-Angel
Santos, a.k.a. Halo, is on a mission: to seek the lost and lead them to be
saved.  “There is a great population of people in this world that
feel hopeless and in despair.  I pray that my music can motivate and
inspire those searching for direction,” he notes.

Halo
firmly believes in being accessible to his fans, whether be it by one on one
interaction or by reaching many at a time through a song.  Thus, he
has begun his movement in the Southwest Florida area, where he has resided for
the past 13 years after departing from his hometown of Miami,
Fl.  The southwest region of Florida primarily consists of smaller
cities such as Naples, Bonita Springs, Ft. Myers, and Cape
Coral.  “Miami will always be my first love, but the path I was
headed over there either a prison or a cemetery was soon to be my
destination.  I have nothing but love for Southwest Florida and
especially all the close friendships I have made here over the years,” he
mentions.

His aim
is to use a music ministry along with other avenues to accomplish what he
professes to be said best in the words of Apostle Paul written in Acts 20:24:
My Life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for the work assigned me by the
Lord Jesus the work of telling others about the Good News about the wonderful
grace of God. (NLT)

“I aim
that my music always points to what happens after this life on Earth ends in
one way or another.  However, the majority of my music just depicts
real life situations.  Whether it’s about marriage, failed
relationships, child raising, financial struggles, death, or just simply tales
of my time on the streets.  It’s real music for real people,” he
states.

Halo,
who is referred to by many as Michael, was born the son of Hispanic immigrant
parents.  He was born and raised in the southwest Miami area in the
mid 80’s.  The divorcing of his parents at an early age led him to
living stints in Tampa, Naples, and Miramar, Fl.  “Miramar shares
borders with Carol City, so I can never forget to mention that Carol City is
like a second home to me now after so many years as I was in that area,” he
adds.  Often relocating cities as well as changing relatives he’d
live with, he had resided with his mother, father, grandmother, and even sister
at different points in his life by his late teenage years.  In his
early twenties he made a move back to Southwest Florida where he currently
resides.

His
passion for making music began as late teenager and his quest began around age
18 going by the stage name Halo. “I was misinformed and my thoughts were
misdirected back then.  My aspiration for making music was for sole
gratification and not for God’s glory.  Yeah I did shows around town
and had some popularity in SWFL but I count that all as lost now.  Just
time and efforts lost,” he states.  He paraphrases Matthew 16:26,
“What good is it to gain the world and lose your own soul in the process?”

In
October of 2011 he met his present wife.  “She is truly the woman God
made for me.  I was a single father to my son for so long and after
so many years of trying to find the right girl, just like that my prayers were
answered,” he notes.  He adds, “She had two children about the same
age as my son and the Lord just knitted our lives perfectly.  There
are no first name references in our home, just Mom and Dad.  All
glory to God for that.”

When
asked how he got the name Halo he explains, “When I was younger on the streets
I would often get myself into sticky situations with law enforcement and often
times I would walk away unscathed, so friends would jokingly say “you must have
a halo over your head.   These days it is my love for Jesus that
fuels my desire.  I was spared my life and freedom while I was knee
deep in wrong living.  Furthermore, I was forgiven of my sins by His
death on the cross.  With that being said, I feel I’ve been
commissioned to seek the lost souls who are in the darkness just as I once
was.  Though life may appear hopeless and even horrific at times we
should all find comfort in the words: Trust in the LORD and lean not on your
understanding.  That’s Proverbs 3:5.”
