Halfcrash is the 8-bit alter ego of composer and multi-instrumentalist Jon King. Jon began creating music electronically at age 14, making remixes and arrangements of songs from video games. In 2011 Jon released his first album as halfcrash, “It Happened In Eight Days.” Created entirely from 8-bit sounds and samples, it was hailed a compositionally-unique take on the chiptune genre. In 2017 the follow-up "Worthless!" was released, expanding his sonic and thematic landscape with aggressively-crushed rock drums, 1920s blues samples, spliced and screwed vocals, and some very honest musings on depression and creativity.
Jon's live performances are equally intriguing and unique, and have incorporated old video game consoles, synthesizers of many flavors, electric guitar, a keytar, and even an electric kazoo.
