Next up was StoneAge Thriller, such a dynamic thrill it was to watch them flourish their truly eclectic revivalist music reminiscent of R.E.M. and contemporaries such as Spoon. Combing layers of synth synched melding leads, upon harmonious melody lines, all whilst covering the grand spaces in between, the thrill was quickly in full force! Their single “Video Queen” is alternative enough to take you back to the mid 90′s, with the swirling backing rhythms loaded with catchy pop chorus candy hooks. Their album, The Evolution of Pop, incapsulates the attitude of era’s past. StoneAge Thriller sound magnificently large and verbose, combining complex, rambunctious, punchiness, with bright shimmering chords. Highlighted during “Crush You” is how cohesive and wondrously expansive the bands’ blend of sounds really is! Frontman, Anthony Ciarochi’s talents were showcased remarkably well as the set wound up. What a way to keep rocking through the nights festivities, with StoneAge Thriller providing all the thunderous tidal waves of tones. A clearly vibrant set built on the foundations of Eurorock legends of present such as U2 and Blur. - Seattle Wave Radio
"Today we’re shining our spotlight on one of the more interesting names in local pop-rock, Girls Love Rockets.
A Western Washington darling, Girls Love Rockets (formerly StoneAge Thriller) is a pop and rock outfit with a sound that’s hard to describe. They’re a local band from the Pacific Northwest, playing what they describe as “hot, bluesy power-pop,” with horns, piano, and more playing pivotal roles in the mix.
Girls Love Rockets has been working venues in the Seattle/Tacoma area for about 2 years, including the Hard Rock Cafe Seattle, One-Eyed Jacks in Lynnwood, Louie G’s in Fife, The SkyLark Cafe in West Seattle and Jazzbones in Tacoma. They’ve also opened for the likes of Candlebox, Filter, and others at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
If you have a taste for eccentricity, you’ll likely vibe with Girls Love Rockets.
