The Beginning EP, The soulful debut from Orlando based songstress Gina Falcone definitely delivers in many ways. From the first track, Hey Baby, the R&B and Soul influence in Gina is felt as she delivers a smooth heartfelt tune in which she shares some of her inner thoughts as she pleads with a former love not to leave. Overall the project provides a deep, introspective view into the different thoughts and ideas that occupy the mind of anyone who has ever been in love. Tracks like The Real Me and Supernatural provide a nice contrast to many of the tracks on the EP as Gina is able to display powerful insight and an overall sense of her vocal control. The track Come on Home places Gina into a post-relationship world in which she is able to explain a different perspective than some of the first tracks on the EP like Hey Baby and Supernatural. The closing track Let Go, it’s as if Gina is able to reminisce over some of the themes that appear in the previous tracks while providing a positive outlook towards the future. Overall the project is an in depth look into the different emotions and feelings present in any relationship and Gina’s polished voice allows her to transition seamlessly from track to track. My favorite tracks on the project include Gone, Supernatural and Let Go though the project is worth a listen in it’s entirety to gain an overall feel for Gina as artist. Equipped with strong, jazzy instrumentals, Gina Falcone is able to deliver a powerful EP with her first release. - The Fresh Committee
Gina Falcone brings us her debut video for her single Gone off her upcoming EP “The Beginning”. The video was well shot and edited with directing from TrayZarc. Gone features songstress Gina as she reminisces over a failing relationship and delivers her final thoughts and an ultimatum. Gina delivers emotionally charged vocals over a soulful Ridiculous Nick produced track. I’m definitely looking forward to Gina’s EP release. Orlando songbird Gina Falcone released the warm 6-track EP, “The Beginning”. Using live instrumentation throughout the entire project creates a field of fireflies atmosphere.
“Hey Baby” the first track of the project swaggers in with a harmonica leading over piano riffs and strokes of warm pads. Gina enters starry eyed: “Hey Baby, there’s things that I really gotta tell you”. Confessing her infatuation with a guy that’s standing on the fence. Riding off her love ecstacy she romanticized the chemistry of their possible relationship on the quiet storm track, “Supernatural”.
Finally addressing the hot and cold, seemingly unrequited relationship, Gina sets an ultimatum on the third track and single, “Gone”. “I want you, I need you/But time is running out on this thing of ours.” She quips that she’s “got options” and could easily be gone.
Their relationship sours more on “Come Home” distorting the warm, romantic light of the city into an “old”, “slow” and “haunted” place without her lover’s absence. Left alone she has a moment of self-reflection on “The Real Me”. Ruminating over her own personality she highlights her quirks and taste. Things like thrifting, nights in and a tight circle of friends. She anchors this moment with the closing track, “Let Go”.
Love, Heartbreak, Security, Insecurity, Dependence and Independence are the themes of this album. Very much so a breakup project that ends on a bright note. This is only the beginning for Gina Falcone. - Mieux Magazine
