G.I. Magus has been performing professionally for 9 years with a group Battle Cats Affiliates, releasing 5 group mixtapes. He recently began a solo career in 2010 and has since released 2 albums and 1 mix tape as a solo artist.
His influences include Andre 3000, JayZ, Nas, The Roots, Talib Kwali, Fred Hammond, Bilal and Marvin Gaye (among others). He is also a current fan of Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., John Legend, Musiq Soulchild, and Phonte. His music is a reflection of many genres. Its this mix of influence that leads him to create soulful, relatable, and realistic lyrics.
G.I. has performed in many cities including New York, Chicago, Oakland, Detroit, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, and Jacksonville, FL. His performance has often been called "electric" by fans. He utilizes a full band to make his music come to life and give a rich audio experience to all who are engaged.
G.I. uses his music to promote positivity and uplift the community. When he released the video for his last single, Overcome, he put on a suicide awareness mixer and invited city leaders, teachers and healthcare professionals to discuss the importance of addressing suicide with youth and young adults.
Overall, G.I. Magus is committed to creating timeless music every time he is in the studio and focused on putting together memorable shows every time he hits the stage.
