Bio
The Gianni Aranoff Quartet will be releasing their debut album, City Nights, on May 5th, 2023. The album, beautifully recorded by Jim McGee at SpectraSound Studios in Quakertown, PA, features six of Gianni’s original compositions with Gianni on tenor saxophone, Dan Wilkins on piano, Adrian Moring on bass, and Liam Zahm on drums. The music of City Nights was inspired by 1950's film noir aesthetics and the 1960's post-bop jazz of Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. The quartet will celebrate the album’s release with a concert at the IceHouse in Bethlehem, PA on May 4th, 2023. Gianni was initially inspired to play jazz by his dad who introduced him to the music of legends like John Coltrane and Miles Davis at an early age. He has taken lessons with some great local teachers, including Tony Gairo and Dan Wilkins, as well as music classes at Kutztown University. Gianni currently plays with the popular local band, The Wonton Soups, and leads the Cyan Moon Jazz Duo, which has played at Hotel Bethlehem and Blue Mountain Ski Resort. He is also a member of the IceHouse Jazz Committee, where he is collaborating with other local musicians to create a vibrant jazz community. Gianni looks forward to more opportunities to share his love of music with engaged local audiences.
