Bio
Get Open is a Hip-Hop group out of New York City featuring Four MCs/musicians; Kiambu, VonMeista, Zook
and SibaGiba who all met in college at Suny Purchase. Their music has allowed them to travel and perform asheadliners in Germany, France and in the US. The group has opened for artists such as KRS 1/BDP,
De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Tha Alkoholiks, Special Ed, and many others in the US. The group was also featured with the late Jazz Trumpeter Lester Bowie and his Hip-Hop Feel-Harmonic orchestra, which was composed of more than 40 musicians. The group’s founder, SibaGiba is a multi platinum and Grammy nominated producer
having produced songs on the “Whitey Ford Sings The Blues” album by Everlast (House of Pain).
In 2014, Get Open is back with a new project, “The Week-End”. The new LP is a feel good Hip-Hop album that
resonates with the diverse sounds of the city and its multi-cultural inhabitants . On this recording, Get Open shares
their cosmopolitan worldview in an accessible way, all while reflecting the melting pot that is New York.
Get Open has an authentic golden era feel laid over current and fun tracks and has often been compared to Mos
Def, De La Soul, Tribe or The Roots.
The ”Week-End” features the uniquely distinct vocals of three amazing female singers; Joy Poirel,
Marie Martin & Jordana Delovely, world famous turntablist DJ Rob Swift, the production of stellar
German beatsmith Glam of Main Concept and French producers Imhotep & Akhenaton from the
legendary group IAM. The majority of the album’s music production was done by Get Open members SibaGiba
and VonMeista. The first single and video is the group’s anthem simply titled “Get Open”.
