Franklin Embry is an amazing musician with a wealth of knowledge that was built out of musical necessity. The love of Hip Hop spoke to him at an early age. At the age of 6 and 7 years old, Franklin Embry’s life would change forever.
The young Franklin Embry lost his older sister in a car wreck and the traumatic experience would change him forever. The young man from Kentucky began acting out in his small school. He was moved to another school in the city and the love for hip hop music began. He would find solace in the urban Hip Hop culture and began to realize he had a talent for it as well. The music this multifaceted musician creates displays his heart right there on his sleeves for you. If you haven’t purchased his album “Bourbon, Broads, and Beats” you are surely missing out.
Franklin Embry went into detail about how he has learned and struggled to achieve his musical dreams. He is a respected DJ, worked as an engineer at Omni Sound Studios, created beats under the alias “Beatz by the Blizz”, and toured with great musicians like Twang and Round. Franklin Embry can’t be categorized and to do so would be an injustice to the many accomplishments and abilities this man has worked so hard to obtain. If anything he is a Rick Ruben style businessman with no musical doors shut. All doors lead to new and wanted opportunities to grow the one true passion inside.
Franklin Embry works on Thursday nights at the Sandbar in Owensboro Kentucky as the bars DJ. Working currently on pre-production and writing along with playing gigs for Twang N Round, he continues to stay busy. He believes you got to keep pressing forward and keep the fires burning when you want your career to be successful.
Franklin Embry is a storyteller in his music the same way the great Johnny Cash was in his, so I suggest you go out and purchase “Bourbon, Broads, and Beats” and sit back with a cold one. It was a privilege not only to meet Franklin but also get to know him a little better through this interview. It is exciting to talk to people chasing their dreams and the openness about the paths taken are ones we all can truly relate to if we step out on a limb to chase them. - Muddy Beatz Magazine

Bio
Pounding the pavement, three words that best describe artist/producer/engineer/dj Franklin Embry AKA Beatz By The Blizz. Armed with a relentless hustle and never say die attitude Embry is one of the hardest working people in Kentucky’s hip hop scene. It has been this hard work that has made him one of the top producers in the region.
In 1998, Embry took his stance behind the turntables and began perfecting the craft of being the life of the parties, the dj. By 2001 he had already became one of the main dj booked for all venues in the surrounding areas. Also, around this time is when his love for music took him down a completely different path he had always had an interest in. During the fall of 2001, Basshead Ent. was created, along with a partner and fellow artist Jason Newton. They released several projects, but the lack of the sound quality left Embry feeling not up to par with what was going on in the industry. In 2004, He took some time off to step his game up behind the scenes of music and enrolled at Full Sail, and earned a degree in Recording Arts. In 2005, he took his degree and applied it to the real world where he began working at Omni Sound Studios in Nashville. Although the information gained while working there helped him to become the producer and engineer he is now, the void for hip-hop was something that couldn’t be filled. He immediately moved back to Owensboro, and took over where he had left off. Soon after, Basshead mixtapes were flooded throughout the streets and clubs creating a buzz that led up to the disk that cemented Basshead into the talk among the regional hip-hop scene, Industry Takeover. With the success of Industry Takeover, Embry took Basshead to every venue possible, performing, promoting, and even using the Basshead name to host some of the hottest parties in the area.
After years of running Basshead Ent. and Franklin Embry Studios, Embry decided it was time to start working on some solo material. Taking influence from his musical hero Rick Rubin he started blending genres. With a fusion Hip Hop, Rock, Country, and EDM, Embry discovered his sound. A sound he likes to call Ken-Tucked Up. With the release of his new album Bourbon Broads and Beats its clear, Embry will continue to pound the pavement.
