young Burlington band Forever Distracted has sprouted from the ashes of another band, pulling on those achievements to gain more successes.
Band members Travis Downton and Nick Bowles decided to form Forever Distracted when their previous band, The Best at Modesty, disbanded after winning a battle of the bands that secured them a performance at Burlington's Sound of Music Festival in 2012.
That performance was the band’s last as members moved on to other pursuits; however, Bowles said he, as vocalist and guitarist, and Downton, as bass guitarist and vocalist, wanted to continue making music. The pair added Rebecca Grant as its drummer and Forever Distracted was formed late in 2012.
“Travis and I decided to keep going but we were without a drummer from the time Sound of Music Festival ended (in June) until October,” explained Bowles.
“We would have started sooner had we found a drummer earlier. One thing we never defined with The Best at Modesty was who we were as a band and where we wanted to go. Now, we are better at that and how to work in the industry this time around.”
Already the punk rock band has recorded an EP, Day by Day (2013), and is planning to release a full-length album in the next few months.
“The Best at Modesty was a good lesson,” said Bowles. “With this band, we’re going out and booking shows. In the last couple months, we are starting to get people interested in us, offering us shows.”
40 songs written
Forever Distracted has performed in Burlington, Toronto and Hamilton; next performing March 28 at the Doors Pub in Hamilton before opening for Varga on April 11th.
In the meantime, the band plans to work on its next recording, having almost 40 songs already written.
“We didn’t expect to be where we are with this band already,” noted Bowles. “It’s never difficult for the three of us to write. We’re going to whittle down to our best songs and get as crisp as we possibly can before we go into studio.”
He said the band hopes to have the new recording for the summer months when the band tours the East Coast if all goes well.
“We’re starting to make impact but we’re still a small band in every sense of the word,” said Bowles. “I feel like Forever Distracted is one of the best experiences of my life and we’ve already done more as a band than I had thought. This works better.”

Bio
Forever Distracted began in Burlington Ontario. Prior to it's formation the bass player (Travis Downton), and the guitar player (Nick Bowles) were in a band together that separated. After the separation, Nick took on the role of lead vocals and the duo began searching for a drummer. After many fruitless months Nick happened to run into an old school friend of theirs (Rebecca Grant) who agreed to join their band. Immediately there was a connection, and song writing came easy to the group. after one month the band already wrote enough songs to recorded their first EP (day by day released June 2013). More recently, the band took on a fourth member to be a trumpeter (Tyrrel Crawford), and has released a second album Don't Care (released February 2015). Some of the bands major influences of the band are: Blink182, Sum41, Rancid, Yellowcard, Rise Against, and Reel big fish. At the moment Forever Distracted is searching for gigs around the GTA to expand their fan base.
