Who are FlyMind Poets? If Hip Hop was to have a southern renaissance, this twin duo would be the frontline of that movement. Consisting of Omarr Franklin aka TrailBlazzorMuzik and Jabarr Franklin aka Barz Damu, the mix of raw creative chemistry and lyrical gusto that these brothers exude are reminiscent to the the innovative approach and charisma that Nas and OutKast brought forth in the mid 90s.
At a time of crossroad after dropping out of college, both twins decided partake in the career route with their long time rap hobby. With no record deal, lack of representation, and very little recognition the duo put in work with the very little resources they had at their disposal. They built a catalog of self released singles and tapes straight from their parents' garage on their laptop and an Audio Technica 2020 condenser microphone. Their independent internet marketing and promotion practices eventually helped them amass a core fanbase, attract attention from local independent entities, and earn a stage performance to open up for rapper Cyhi Da Prynce who is apart of Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music record label. At this this point, they passed up on representation of order to build their brand.
In the years of 2012 and 2013, the FlyMind Poets consistently released tracks on their Soundcloud account in which most of them were highly praised for social content, lyrical ability, and strong delivery. Their music got the attention of a local underground fan favorite with the moniker of iBeast, who at the time just released a mixtape that earned him a cosign from Big Krit. iBeast asked Barz Damu and TrailBlazzorMuzik both to join him and form the NewGa (New Georgia) support system which is a coalition of artists dedicated to creating honest music as well as promote every artist within that system.
The Poets have since release two projects with the first being being the 'FlyMinds EP'. Entirely produced by Z3Trackz, it garnered viral attention and acclaim due to the lyrical prowess and subject matter meshed with the groovy soul driven production. Many fans and supporters expressed that the project sound like a mixture of Nas and OutKast. The second of the two, which was a compilation of recorded unreleased material titled 'Nation Leaks', was praised for the artistic growth, songwriting, beat selection, and personal magnetism displayed by both Barz Damu and TrailBlazzorMuzik. The magnetism factor that they both mastered earned them a reputation as being highly engaging, impressionable and humorous entertainers on stage. Currently putting a new EP together titled 'The Alternative Route', the promise the FlyMind Poets' undeniable growth due to past consistency gives reason of what their next project beholds.
No doubt about it, these twins' talent has earned them first-hand qualifications from recognition, to accolades, to praise. In 2015, the FlyMind Poets won the 'Conscious Rap Artist of the Year' plaque in the 5th annual YGEA Awards at the Bridge Hip Hop Summit. In January 2014, Barz won the Operating While Black Cypher. To add on to that magnificent year, both twins earned individual sections for the September issue of BNG Magazine's artist spotlight and they also earned a spot on Coast 2 Coast Trending Indie Tracks mixtape. With these accolades being earned by dynamic lyrical ability, magnetic stage performance, and ever evolving song crafting prowess, the self-proclaimed 'Frontline of the Southern Hip Hop Renaissance Movement' duo are destined to reach the heights of their irrefutable potential.
