Yung Filthie
Denver, CO | Established. Jan 01, 2013 | INDIE
Bio
Yung Filthie is known for his charismatic personality both on and off the microphone. His lyrical ability is rooted in the foundation of one who has witnessed the hardships of life (his early years were spent in Detroit), combined with one whose life is shaped by determination.
Like many who touch down in the “Motor City,” Yung Filthie’s love for music grew from the city’s historic surroundings and his love affair with rap began. In his own words, Filthie is a “reformed knucklehead,” though it was and continues to be the environment of the streets that sharpened his smarts and skills on the mic. Battle rap competitions became his pulpit, all while moving through the tribulations of life as a young black man in America.
His style is poetic, his voice gruff and raspy and his lyrics are prophetic sentiments of ghetto life. In Detroit Filthie learned the melodies of rhyme, back home in Denver, Colorado, he began to craft the science of rapping. The creative process took on a more formulaic approach to bars, lyrical delivery and stage performance.
The music became a healing space and a haven from the harsh life of the streets that, while not sustainable on a long level, continued to inspire his rhymes and persona. The moniker “Filthie” is a description of the world around him and a throw to his fearless approach to the music industry.
“It’s a Filthie World,” is the latest release from the MC, a hefty project of street anthems, late night haunting hymns and more than one perspective on love in a world full of chaos.
