The world weary bellow of nare-do-well song slinging diva “Fanny” and her band “The Paper Straws”, are guaranteed to wow audiences, and lowly listeners alike. The torch fire of depression era jazz is emblazoned alongside of a reverence for American Roots music, while kindled by real-deal poetic songwriting mentality. The Grandchild of the dustbowl, Okie turned philosopher; Fanny, got her start singing in all night coffee bars, while living on the streets of San Diego, CA. Raised by sidewalk tarot card readers, and the wisdom of long stay hotel drag queens; Fanny’s concept of survival is deeply intertwined with her musical delivery. Backed by a gold star team of roots music enthusiasts, and blues scene alumni the “Bigtone Records” crew, who specialize in vintage RCA equipment recording, tube amp repair, and direct to tape mixing; combine to create an “Old School” sound that is completely unmatched.
