Kentucky has been blazing with new talent lately and FAIF is next up from the Bluegrass State.

FAIF is new on the music scene but you would think he’s seasoned in the game by all that he has accomplished in such a short time!

FAIF says his music reflects a fantasy which most wouldn’t mind living out in real life. “I made those three songs (NO RUSH, LOWKATION, LACEDD) because it defines my alter ego. My sign is a Scorpio and it brings out my inner Scorpio. Scorpios are some of the most sexual beings and i just wanted to show a liitle bit of that side of me, my alter ego to the public. It’s many sides to FAIF which reflects in my newest single “FALLEN TEARS” which is super personal for me.”

FAIF is a star and it shows wherever he goes. His eye-catching look never goes unnoticed. The way he styles his hair, his wardrobe, accessories, the way he presents his self. “My wardrobe is very raw,” he says. “I would define my style as ‘daring to be different’ not looking like any person standing to the left or right of me. I feel it gives me separation. It defines my artistry in a form.”

FAIF and his team have worked non-stop during the pandemic. FAIF has utilized his time promoting his brand digitally, creating in the studio while still finding time to do outreach in his community.

I’m no r&b artist, but I can imagine searching for your unique sound, style, and then getting the masses to acknowledge it can be somewhat challenging. But for Louisville, Kentucky r&b artist, Faif, it’s a challenge he’s embraced and converted into success.

Let's start by laying out Faif accolades. 2019 Faif wins Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc’s Tales showcase. An event where Faif says Irv leaped onto the stage after his set to acknowledge his performance. "Irv Gotti came to Louisville for the BET Tales Showcase to watch artists perform," says Faif. "I wasn't looking for any opportunity; I approach it as a new artist just trying to get their music out. When I hit the stage, I didn't care what nobody thought; I didn't care about how people thought I look, I didn't care about how anybody thought I sound; I just went crazy. I did ”No Rush and "Location," and after I perform, Irv Gotti hop on stage and was like, hold up, this guy right here is why I came to Kentucky."

Faif performance results in two singles being lead songs in a couple of Tales episodes. Following up on his success with Tales, Faif took home the 2019 R&B Artist of the Year Award at the Kentucky Urban Entertainment Awards. One of his latest singles titled "Lacced" received high praise from r&b superstar, Tank.

”When I dropped Lacced, everybody loved it," Faif says. ”But being able to promote it was a challenge because of the content. Instagram and Facebook wasn't having it. So, me and my team had to hit emails and get it out to as many people as possible. One morning I woke, checked my email, and it was a video of him [Tank]. His message made me feel like I’m not doing anything wrong."

"Lacced," released in early 2020, would be considered NSF, but in the right way. The sexual energy provided in "Lacced" rather within the lyrics or the video leaves little to the imagination while introducing a new word into the ”Dictionary of Black Culture." Faif defines "Lacced" as describing a woman as being "sexy, fine, cute, or beautiful." For example, "Dam, shorty over there, lacced." Sounds legit to me.

"With Lacced, I wanted a record that really embodies women," Faif says. "Something that speaks on them without being disrespectful. With the visual, it was meant to be like the whole Hugh Hefner fantasy."

How long have you been making music? I released my first single “No Rush” in 2018.
What are some trials and tribulations you go through as an artist? Marketing myself to the right people. Putting purpose to what I’m doing. You have to have a purpose.
Doyou feel like you’ve developed your sound? Yes, with every song I’ve done I feel like it’s only getting better and better.
Describe your musical style in three words. Different, memorable, and sensational.
Ifyou had to write a novel based on your life what would the name of it be? “Tears Overcame”.
What is a quote that you were told or that you came up with that you will never forget? “Dare to be Different”.
Who are the artists that influenced you to make music? Static Major, Aaliyah, Marvin Gaye (He was able to connect with people in a sexual way but can turn around with a conscious sound-he’s versatile), and Prince.
What is some advice you’d give to an independent artist trying to develop their sound? Trust in you, believe in you, and don’t ever feel like you have to be guilted into what corporate America designs musicians to look and sound like. Always be you.

The first recognition for FAIF’s talent came last year on April 25, when Murda Inc’s CEO Irv Gotti selected him as the winner on the Louisville Tales on BET Showcase for his first two singles. FAIF also got nominated in six categories at the Kentucky Urban Entertainment Awards, where he won the 2019 R&B Artist of The Year award.

Dominique Owens is an American vocalist and songwriter, born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, who is known on the music scene under the stage name FAIF, the inspiring acronym that contains the core of his artistic vision: “For Anyone In Fear”.

FAIF initially gained recognition as an R&B artist thanks to the release, in November 2018, of his captivating single ‘No Rush’, the subsequent raunchy number ‘Lowkation’ in May 2019, and his third and most recent single ‘Lacedd’, released in March 2020.

FAIF’s story in the field of music begins on March 3, 2014, the harrowing day where he was the only survivor in a fatal car accident that involved his best friend Kerry Benson (Former University of Kentucky walk-on) and Germina Cruz (2014 Louisville Lady Xtreme Dance Team).

Following the accident, in the midst of recovery, FAIF started writing music, finding in it a great therapeutic expedient, as well as a formidable push to expand his creativity and image on the music scene. This impulse was further invigorated by his childhood friend and producer Calvin Roberson (Siah on the Beatz), with whom FAIF has been able to find the right understanding and the perfect chemistry, getting the most out of his talent.

Louisville rapper and R&B artist FAIF has released his club-shaking (that is, if they were open) new R&B-laced track LACEDD.

It’s a party all-around and FAIF oozes charisma across trappy, melodic verse chops and follows through with a hook able to earn LACEDD some repeat plays with relative ease. There’s no shortage of entertaining things to pick through on this release, and FAIF should be easily able to get heads nodding on those that want some raw, authentic party rap delivered with independent charm and a strong R&B sensibility.
