Bio
In 1843 the famed Factory Girls of Lowell, Mass were not just laborers--they were revolutionaries who led the charge for workers' rights and women's rights at the height of the American Industrial Revolution. With the power of their words as published in the world-renowned Lowell Offering, these young women who had left their New England farms for what was then the largest in the nation changed the course of history.
In their new musical FACTORY GIRLS Creighton Irons and Sean Mahoney have captured the spirit of these women in music and lyrics. Often employing the very words these revolutionaries wrote over 160 years ago, FACTORY GIRLS celebrates the history of Lowell and the birth of feminism. The show has received workshop productions at Boston Conservatory, Pace University, The National Alliance for Musical Theater, and Goodspeed Opera House, among others. With sold out shows at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, and Ars Nova, the show has gained a reputation as one of the hottest new scores in New York City.
The talented singers of Factory Girls are some Broadway's rising stars. Led by Alison Cusano (A night with Janis) and Julia Mattison (Godspell), this rotating cast of young women brings unmatched intensity to one of the most exciting times in American history.
