Nigel and Evan were inspired to develop their brand because of their desire to add some flavor to the already colorful music genres available today. They want to introduce a new way of creating music, new sounds, new rhythms, new songwriting approaches that they hope will get them recognized as serious music artists. While they do understand that the journey to stardom will be an uphill climb, the two are ready to meet the challenges head-on by remaining true to their brand, their musical style, and respect for one another's dreams and aspirations.
Looking ahead, Nigel and Evan envision themselves transforming from a small-time local band from Pennsylvania to pop icons in the near future. They also want their music to make it to the Grammy Awards, the Billboard charts, and American Music Awards, to name a few. Evan Pietrzak is one of the young artists who dared to take the music industry head-on and use these platforms to his advantage.
As the lead singer and muse of the band “Nigel and Evan,” Eva Pietrzak optimizes all his innate musical prowess combined with experience to create music that will represent him as an artist. Since August 19, 2000, this young boy from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, was one of the rising talents. At the age of 4, Evan started performing in pageants at his Catholic school, St. Ursula Catholic School, situated in Allison Park, Pennsylvania. His enthusiasm for music grew stronger day by day and was harnessed throughout highschool, wherein he performed in various school and regional productions. Evan took part in Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theatre’s productions of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “In The Heights,” and “Smile.”
Despite all these theatrical backgrounds, he felt like he is meant to create bigger things. “I just want to use my voice and use it to show who I am without any limits unlike what the theatre community does, wanting more but up to a certain limit, that’s just not me,” said Evan. He did try to push through theatre arts; he even attended Point Park University for musical theatre. However, he decided to put all his efforts into creating music full time and left the university after a year.
One fateful day led him to meet Nigel Seibert, a young music producer, who became the other piece of the band they formed. The duo’s collaborative efforts and hours of practice were put into work as they reach for the common dream— express and be heard through music. A product of their hard work is four big hits, “In My Head,” “Fire,” “Back Again,” and “Karen,” which are available on Spotify. These songs express different thoughts and feelings but share a common musical theme, an upbeat futuristic electronic pop sound with a hint of the 90s.
Nigel & Evan is one of the upcoming local pop duos that shows great promise. By continuously putting together their musical skills, surely there will be new releases that will be hits shortly after. Have you always been interested in music? What is your story and how did you start making music?
I have always been interested in music. I was first introduced into the music scene when I was in my catholic school in Allison Park, Pennsylvania when I started doing pageants and school shows. Being up on stage singing solos in front of the audience at such a young age was such a fun experience for me and I loved hearing everyone clapping for me that I just remember thinking: “I wanna do that again” and from that point forward I started to hustle and perform and sing whenever I got the chance to. I began taking voice lessons at the age of 6 and started performing in musicals at the age of 7, starting at the local community theatre and joined the school choirs and participated in all the talent shows and started taking voice lessons and dance lessons at the Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theatre and did summer theatre camps at Wexford Acting Studio. After I graduated high school I went on to pursue musical theatre at Point Park University. After completing one year I withdrew from the university because I thought, “I just wanna be in the business and work. I want to be my own artist, not some factory-made entertainer”. I then began flying back and forth to L.A. and New York City trying to cut my teeth on any available gig. I also began writing songs of my own and recorded demos on my phone and then met up with Nigel Seibert, my producer/drummer in “Nigel & Evan” and began making them real songs to release and perform, henceforth “Nigel & Evan” was born.
What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look forward to?
“Nigel & Evan”‘s new single “Where You Goin'” will be releasing next Friday, February 19th on all music platforms.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? Right now, my main focus is to become a signed artist and become a household name in the music industry. I’m not expecting to reach superstardom overnight, that would just be silly, but that would be nice to accomplish one day.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Same as everyone else: COVID-19 and the pandemic. Since this pandemic has shut down all live show venues and theaters, it’s been challenging to get in front of audiences to shower them with our lyrics and fun personalities. But we make it work by doing our own livestream concerts every weekend because as they say in show business, “the show must go on”, and that’s what we are trying to prove in these livestream concerts.
How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical songwriting process?
Typically I will be going through something in my personal life or experience something either exciting or tragic and I will want to express my feelings for it in the best way possible so I express my feelings through music. I usually start with lyrics just do I can get my thoughts and words written down and just let them out my system and then I will sit at my piano and start coming up with a catchy melody to go along with what I have written.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business? It’s a blessing and a curse. It is a great way to get a diverse audience of people to hear your work but then it can be an open door to copyright issues with people stealing your ideas or your work and it can cause lots of drama in the music scene.

I was performing in musicals and doing acting.
Would you have any advice for young people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Work hard and believe in yourself and don’t be ashamed of being different. That’s what makes you great and if you have a dream you go out there and you fight for it no matter what anyone else says. The people who try to hold you back and tear you down are just jealous of you and wish they had the balls to do what you’re doing.
If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
I would change the competitiveness. We all love music, we all love what we do so why make it a competition? If you love what you do and you are confident in yourself then why should it be a competition?
How do you feel about originality?
Originality is important. It’s what makes you powerful and helps one to stand out.

Evan Pietrzak is a singer and songwriter on the rise from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He shares, "I wanted to use my voice and show who I am without the limits of what the theatre community does." Evan decided to withdraw from the program and focus his energies on writing and recording music full time.
Evan Pietrzak says that he has no regrets about the decision he made. "I love where I am at with my life at the moment. I'm producing my own music and writing songs that I feel are representative of what my generation is going through."
As with any young musician, Evan Pietrzak harnesses the power of social media to promote his work and bring attention to his band. "I make it a point to cultivate an audience across different social media platforms. I share music and content on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok. What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
(Evan) My favorite track to perform is “Where You Goin’?” because I wrote is after going through a heartbreaking breakup and it really showcases how I was feeling during that time and the upbeat melodies and instrumentals are so fun to sing.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
The pandemic. Since all concert venues and music festivals have been shut down it has been very difficult to perform and get in front of audiences and connect with fans. Although, we continue to perform live on Evan’s TikTok every Sunday with themed livestream concerts to keep the audiences enjoying the music scene.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
(Evan) Normally I will be going through something either in my professional or personal life and I will deal with it by writing it down in my journal and then I start putting melodies to the journal entries and then I turn them into songs.

Social media has allowed us to stay connected with our audiences and engage with other artists especially during this time of a global pandemic.

Believe in yourself, work hard, dream big, go big or stay home, and don’t give a damn what people think about you.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
If we could change one thing about the music industry, we would change the competitiveness. We all just want to make music for the same reasons and we all go through the same things so we believe us artists should be united and not divided.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
Originality is very important in our opinion. Trying to copy someone else doesn’t make you stand out. We believe in just being ourselves because nobody can be us and we can’t be them. So, therefore, originally is important.

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.
My favorite part about being an artist is that I can to change lives. Music is the universal language and it speaks to us in ways that most of us can't describe but it really makes you stop and think and can have a huge impact on your mood and lifestyle.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?
It's non-stop, sleepless nights work. I am very picky with vocals and musicality and I just always wanna do take after take after take because I want my audience to hear me at my best because that's what they deserve.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
Nothing else. My music and my career is my livelihood, I'm always writing and coming up with new ideas for a song.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?
Lady Gaga. Even though it's a pandemic she is still rising above it and making smash hits and just doing it all.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
"Where You Goin'?" is a song that I wrote the day after I broke up with my ex. It was very sudden and happened completely out of the blue so instead of crying about it a wrote a song about it.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
I currently have something new planned but we can discuss that when the time comes.

Evan Pietrzak is a singer and songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Evan's professional musical journey began in 2018 when starting to perform in professional shows and began writing songs seriously. Leading up to 2019, Evan began recording demos of songs with friends and considered recording them professionally. In 2020 Evan officially started his first band "Nigel & Evan" with his friend Nigel, who played drums and also played as a producer and have gained success in getting recognition for their music.
