When Rap Fiesta caught up with the San Meteo, California, multi-talented artist, he described his inspiration for the track occurring after an experiment with psychedelics.

He started making music in the 3rd grade and this is how he describes his experience,
“I would just learn classic songs and remember always performing at my elementary school’s talent show every year. I knew that music would be a big part of my life after realizing how awesome I always felt after performing like that. I also remember always using GarageBand throughout elementary school just putting loops together and making orchestral compositions with tons of layers. I first came into Hip Hop through breakdancing in middle school. I had a friend in 6th grade that was smoove with it, and I wanted to learn. I was lucky to have my first teacher be the younger brother of the founder of the original Jabbawokeez. If you don’t know they are a dance crew that’s been in the Step Up Movies, won the first season of America’s best dance crew, and have a permanent show in Las Vegas. In the summer before freshmen year of high school, I first got into making beats on Logic Pro
I remember being so amazed by the production done by Noah 40 Shebib on Drake’s Nothing Was The Same album. At the time I searched for music that inspired me just through the overall vibe and production, and this album captured some amazing feelings. I would always stay up late at night trying to re-create these dreamy, outer-space, bittersweet vibes. Something about the instrumentals on that album just felt like the feeling of being on the cusp of greatness” – Matthys
Erics Tips for Success for other Upcoming Artists
With Eric’s music absolutely blowing up and making waves in the TikTok scene, I asked him if he had some tips for other emerging artists, this is what he had to say,”I would say, don’t ever try to create anything that doesn’t feel like you. I promise in the long run it just won’t feel as good, versus if you put out music/content that truly holds your unique identity, not only will it be refreshing for other people, but it will also just feel a lot better knowing that you are true to yourself. And don’t be afraid to show people that you believe in yourself. If you’re not already a huge artist with press and big names speaking very highly of you, people will be much more inclined to believe in you if you show how much you believe in yourself” – Matthys
Biggest Inspiration and Obstacles
The music industry isn’t an easy game to enter, as a matter of fact, it’s one of the hardest, Eric describes his biggest hurdle as having to push forward with no validation or support form his peers. In his hometown he felt like his competition was so focused on copying other large and successful artists that they didn’t bother to craft their own unique sound. Not having connections in the industry for the longest time was another obstacle. He had only realized there was major potential for his music after downloading TikTok and posting his music there for people to use as viral “sounds” (short audio pieces that can be attached to any created video). Eric’s biggest inspiration is Kanye West due to the way that he captures the most uplifting feelings in his songs.
What’s Next?
Eric plans on sticking to the grind that’s brought him this far, dropping frequent and consistently solid singles until he’s picked up by a record label. When that happens he says hes going to put together his debut album. - Lost Sound Radio
