Definitely a favorite of the night was singer, songwriter Durieux. Pronounced "Dur-ee-ay", he immediately pulled the crowd in with a song he wrote for his haters entitled "Let Me Live". This song sounded like something that had already been on the radio for years, it was so catchy and felt so good! With his songs "Dying To Know", "Back Up Plan", and his closing song "Are We?", which got the audience involved by his invitation for them to sing background on the bridge, you can tell that Durieux is not a novice with his music. His presence was larger than life and his vocals were akin to Jonathan Butler. A true tenor, he flawlessly leaped for high notes and knew that less was more in the acrobatics areas. Definitely make him one of your playlist additions as he and his band already have material out now, but are headed back into the studio to create a new masterpiece. Bio
Durieux is a Bronx-based band known for an idiosyncratic, yet moving, take on Alternative R&B/Soul. Led by singer and rhythm guitarist Bryan Durieux, the band originally begun as a solo act. Over time, the music evolved to a point where Bryan began to perform on stage with a full band behind him. The blend of Bryan’s talent melded with soulful bass (Seth "Happy" Nicholson), groove centric drums (Danny Castro), and intricate guitar (Gannon Ferrell) is a sight to see. Bryan is a story teller and a performer that writes his lyrics, from the heart, based on experiences in life that anyone can find relatable. Blend that with sound of his band and it becomes an experience that will have you in your feelings, but also make you want to groove and be on stage with them singing your heart out. Durieux has performed on stages all over NYC and beyond. In NY he has performed at notable venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene’s Grocery, Mercury Lounge, Pianos, Bowery Electric, Central Park, The Groove, The Bronx Museum of The Arts, and The Apollo where he earned 2nd place at Amateur Night. The band has shared the stage with high caliber artists since its inception such as Marcus Machado, Sugaray Rayford, Vagabon just to name a few. Durieux's goal is to bring the euphoric experience of community through music. Create a space where we all relate on an emotional level and collectively find solace within ourselves at the end of every performance.
