Driftone

In 2019, a falling out from a prior band brought Tyler Heckman (lead vocals, guitar), David Wynn (drums), and Cody Cannon (back vocals, bass) to form Driftone. They started the writing process to see if they would be a good fit together, and seamlessly made huge progress on new music. Early in 2020 during the production stage of their first album, they brought on Colton Alexander (keys).

The band describes their sound as Cali-Roots; a product of combining a roots reggae rythym section and the upbeat and musically rich style and wide sound of California reggae. They also feature passionate guitar work, tasteful harmonies, and complimentary drum, bass, and keyboard riffs. The band focuses lyrics on many things such as politics, positive outlooks, and enjoying their time.

Spending the winter of 2019 and the early part of 2020 writing new music, they will be releasing singles throughout the summer, including Nation At War, California, Five-0, and many more.

The band takes inspiration from many reggae groups such as Toots and the Maytals, Rebelution, Steel Pulse, The Wailers, and Tribal Seeds; as well many personal inspirations like Jimi Hendrix, Bad Religion, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
