Drew Tillman was voted Best Solo Artist of the Year by the people of Tallahassee. - Tally Awards 2012
Item 2 on my agenda today regards local musician Drew Tillman, who has entered an original song in a songwriters contest for inclusion in the upcoming movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."
It's a multi-level competition that's a little bit confusing to explain, but Round 1 involves friends, family and fans voting for their friend/brother/favorite musician's song. The Top 100 songs go on to Round 2, where a panel of judges pick eight finalists, who then make a video of themselves and clips from the film, after which the competition moves through two more rounds before a winner is declared.
So far, Tillman has been climbing up the ranks in the Top 100 and earlier this week was positioned at No. 31 (out of thousands of submissions — pretty impressive, eh?). There's still time to vote before the cutoff at midnight Saturday (i.e., at the break of Saturday, as Friday, i.e., today passes into memory). You can vote — once only per person, please — by going to www.indierockvstheworld.sonicbids.com. Type "Drew Tillman" in the "find a band" box, which will bring up his page. Then click "Vote." - Kati Schardl - Tallahassee Democrat Limelight
