Double H Records H2BGR0616. There is little information on the CD jacket as to who these two gentlemen are. The duo is Bob Hight (mandolin, guitar) and Kirby Heard (guitar, mandolin) and they appear to be from North Carolina. They are joined on this project by Jeanette Williams on bass, Nikki Wright on fiddle, and Jody King on banjo. Produced by Johnny Williams, the album is a collection of mostly familiar tunes ranging from “Sea Of Heartbreak” to “My Blue Eyed Darling.” In between, you’ll hear others such as “Beneath Still Waters,” “Send Me Your Address From Heaven,” “Ashes Of Love,” “Carolina State Of Mind,” “The Pain Of Loving You,” and the gospel “Heaven Will Be Mine.” Their harmonies are patterned after the Louvin Brothers singing style and are best shown on “My Baby’s Gone” and “Are You Missing Me.” A pretty fair outing for these folks. Bob & Kirby’s Double H Bluegrass was formed in 2012 by Kirby Heard and Bob Hight. The roots of our music comes from, Blues, Folk, Honky Tonk Country and Gospel. All of these genres can be heard in our style of Bluegrass Music. We have a high energy live show and love to interact with audiences. Kirby Heard plays rhythm guitar as well as banjo, mandolin and Dobro. Bob Hight plays mandolin, lead and rhythm guitar and Dobro. We feature a unique harmony blend with the switching of parts during a song that gives us our own sound. Kirby an Bob are both songwriters contributing original works to the band.
Double H can be heard throughout North Carolina and southern Virginia.
In 2016 we released our first CD titled “Pieces of a Dream” produced by Johnny Williams and recorded and mastered at Eastwood Studios in Cana VA. This project contains cover songs as well as 3 original songs. “Broken Heated” and “Not Forgotten” by Kirby Heard and “Heaven Will Be Mine” by Bob Hight.
