In 2013, Chicago gave us new artists such as Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper and…Dope Fantasy? Yes, Dope Fantasy! I slept on this crew from my home city; shame on me. Honestly, it was a little bold to name the tittle, “Real Hip Hop” but I can’t argue. This is what hip hop is, was and will always be. Chi-Town STAND UP! - Feefo

Chicago's own Dope Fantasy comes with a seriously nice track called "Real Hip Hop", which is absolutely the perfect title for it. A beautiful grimy beat with some extra jazziness to it and three extra dope verses from these gentlemen who we believe are about to blow up beyond belief. Enjoy. - Fingers On Blast

Since first discovering Dope Fantasy via the excellent song/video "REAL HIP HOP" I've been eager to hear more. Finally the rising Chicago rap conglomerate returns as they hit the beach with their respective ladies in these crisp, Brianna Lashe-directed visuals for "ITOY". - Winners Circle Ent

My boss told me about these guys a while ago but with me being busy all the time I didn’t get the full opportunity to check them out. I’m beyond glad now that I hear them flow. Their flows are not only unique but you can feel their hunger to get their music out to the masses. I can always relate to something like that. Dope Fantasy gives us their visual to their genuine track entitled “Real Hip-Hop”, and all I will say is this – whatever project they have up their sleeves I would love to get a listen in on it…. - The Lyrical Lab

I was recently introduced to a Chicago based group on the rise called Dope Fantasy. The official video and track for their latest project “Real Hip Hop” takes it back to that authentic aspects of hip hop with black and white visuals, nice beat and dope lyricist covering the track. I’m definitely a fan and ready to see what they bring next. Check out the official video below. - Proclaimed-Truth

Dope Fantasy is a collective out of Chicago and they recently sent through their latest set of visuals to “ITOY”. Serving as a track that can be appreciated by both the ladies and the fellas, this single fits the Summer season perfectly with a smooth instrumental and a well put-together video to go along with it. Take a walk up Lakeshore with the team as they cake to the ladies in “ITOY” and look for more from the Chi-town group in the near future. - Respect The Fresh

Got some extra nu-nu music last week from a group out of Chicago called Dope Fantasy and their song "Real Hip Hop" is exactly what it says it is. All four members of the group each take turns telling their story about their grind and hustle over an extra jazzy beat. Chicago has a lot of rap groups that are on the rise right now and you can add this one to that list. - JSonline

Dope Fantasy is a four man collective from the Eastside of the Chi, and today they make their FSD debut with two new joints produced by C-Sick. Jay R Best By Far reached out via email today, so I checked it out, and despite being called “Real Hip-Hop” (I hate when people say things like “this is real hip-hop!”) it was cold. It’s a very different C-Sick sound than what you’re expecting — it’s the opposite of trap or drill or whatever.
After the first joint caught attention, I started thumbing through his Hulkshare page and found a gem entitled “Next To You.” It samples Oliver Cheatham’s “Get Down Saturday Night,” which is probably best known for being sampled by Ideal for “Whatever.” Whatever, I liked them so I upped ‘em both. - Fakeshoredrive

Directed by Brianna Lashé. Produced by C-Sick.
The term “Real Hip-Hop” is SUPER played in the year 2013, but this record is pretty fresh. These Dope Fantasy cats, alongside producer C-Sick, have some heat in the chamber. Check out their latest video above.

Chicago bars. Dope Fantasy is on the verge of releasing their collective “Policy Kingz” project, checkout a new freestyle clip to support it. - DJ Enuff
The Dope Fantasy crew has added some additional buzz to their image in preparation for the release of their upcoming record Policy Kingz. The Chicago-based hip-hop group headed over to Gramaphone Records, a record shop in the Chi, to film a freestyle video. Yeah, yeah, so what? Get this – these guys pulled an MC Supernatural type freestyle by incorporating records randomly pulled off the shelves into their rhymes. Directed by Blak Kamal, the “Road To Policy Kingz Freestyle” is a one of a kind freestyle that tests the artists wit and quick-thinking while easily demonstrating their accurate rhyming capabilities. This is a good one, folks - Stone

Bio
After years of Carrera Kool, JayR, and L's, hanging out and free-styling, Dope Fantasy was formed in June of 2012; the guys felt the need to fill a void on the Chicago music scene. Dope Fantasy is a dynamic of Hip-Hop fused with each members lyrical vista followed by vocalist Ross Augusta's sultry scales. The Dope Fantasy sound gained blog exposure after the release of their debut single Real Hip-Hop, had been featured on the Chicago Music Guide, Fake Shore Drive, Dead End Hip Hop, and Hot New Hip Hop frequently during 2013. Musically, for Dope Fantasy there are no boundaries, they cover all subjects with candid delivery and refreshing content. The members of Dope Fantasy all come from varying artistic backgrounds and neighborhoods around the city of Chicago. Carrera Kool (the Narrator) and L's (the Lyricist) attended high school together, while JayR (the MC) and L's are cousins, JayR recruited Ross August (the Vocalist) after contending against him in a contest showcase. Together they produce a genuine Chicago flavor complete with soulful vivid imagery over unapologetic rugged instrumentals, keeping the tradition while raising the bar of the Chicago sound. Often referred to as the Earth, Wind, and Fire of Hip-Hop, Dope Fantasy provides a fully live showcase backed by their Funk/Rock influenced quartet.
