Doctors of Geography

In early 2013, the four piece rock band, Doctors of Geography, hit the Bozeman, MT music scene with their eyes set on building up to the release of their first album, For Padre (March 2014). After a long period of composition, experimentation, and practice the band produced the album in Ground Up Studios (designed and constructed by band members Brent Finch and Jason Lovelace). Through this process, a diverse style was formed encompassing the power of full throated rock and roll to ambient indie-soul. Now, they have begun to bring this to the masses with their authentic, unique performances.

DocGeo has played at a number of venues in the greater Montana area including the Filling Station, the Haufbrau, and the Baxter Ballroom. At each show, consistent fan turnout has yielded large and energetic crowds. By utilizing their diverse musical style they attract a wide range of listeners in many different settings. DocGeo has played alongside Bozeman based rock bands The Salamanders and Panther Car and with the national touring act Matt Arthur & The Bratlanders.

The band's lineup begins with Alaskan bred Brent Finch, chief songwriter and lead vocalist. Finch provides the powerful yet melodic voice that constitutes the focal point for each song. Lead guitar duties are filled by Jason Lovelace who uses his Page-esque licks flavored with unique blues styling to contrast with Finch's more ephemeral songwriting. The rhythm section is comprised of funk brothers Adam Palagi (drums) and John Sherrill (bass). Palagi, a Berklee College of Music grad, adds a soulful touch to the mix with his James Brown influenced rhythms and hardboiled bebop chops. And Sherrill glues everything together with his oh-so-smooth-n-slick production talents and multi-instrumentalist capabilities.
