Most Touching: Dima Kash – “Love/Hate”

Paternity was a big theme in 2018. Manny Phesto took on the subject with typical hip-hop flair , and that same month, Reed Benjamin unspooled a love letter to his son . Of all the Sad Dads on our lists for the year, it was Dima Kash’s “Love/Hate” that came with the biggest dagger. The regret, the shame, the determination: Kash makes it all palpable in this cautionary tale of a father who lets drama get between him and his future. - Jerard Fagerberg

"RAW AND MORE MUSICAL THAN EVER!"

After his last glorious cut and socially potent message on ‘Open Your Eyes’ ft. Monaye Love, Dima Kash is back with another banger, entitled, “Can’t Breathe”. The bilingual rapper has transformed himself from a loud-talking, master of hip-hop mega tracks, into a loud-talking, master of hip-hop mega tracks with a vengeance. He is a masterful orchestrator and organizer of his talent.

“Can’t Breathe” is Dima Kash doing exactly what it was that got him to the point that he’s now in his career. He is lyrically on top of his game, and he is running circles around most artists in the underground game right now.

Dima Kash’s lyrical prowess will keep you engaged and wanting to hear his storytelling from beginning to end, and when he blends this together with a killer beat like the one on “Can’t Breathe”, the result is stunning. His delivery and charismatic flow shines on this project which continues to solidify his spot amongst the new breed of rappers with something to say.

Make no mistake this track is gritty enough for those looking for a banger; however at the same time Dima Kash makes you ponder on different aspects of life through his lyrical reflections. This has always come through on all of his tracks that I have had the pleasure of listening to so far.

Dima Kash is so very lit and this track is a continuation of his uniqueness. The dude is raw and more musical than ever. His hooks and beats bounce around and is a fully fleshed out with personal musicality than ever before. When it comes to turning ideas, thoughts, concepts, memories into music, no one in the game does it better than Dima Kash.

His skill for creating a satisfying body of work on all levels is unmatched. You hit the bulls-eye when you speak about consistency in the presence of Dima Kash. Time after time, track after track, one guy who always seems to deliver quality music from top to bottom is Dima Kash.

It’s that raw street flavor with his potent rhyme skills, which brings a lot of attention to his lethal pen game, however, I feel like Dima Kash is still a little overlooked and underrated in the industry. If you’re a fan of hip hop, you won’t be disappointed with “Can’t Breathe”. Dima Kash always has the right recipe and has never served a bad track yet! - Buddy Nelson (Jamsphere)

"Dima Kash: Russian Refugee Turned Hip Hop Emcee"

Minneapolis, Minnesota - May 11, 2016 - He's been heard on the airwaves from the City of Angels to Sin City to Hotlanta. That's because Dima Kash is one of the hip hop artists to watch this year. He's not only skilled on the mic, but behind the pen as well. Creating all his own lyrics, he's a wordsmith extraordinaire with his latest, Kash Over Everything, and looking to put his name out there even more so in 2016.

He didn’t grow up in Compton, the southside of Chicago, or even in the Bronx, but it’s safe to say Dima has had his own share of rough and tumble in his lifetime. A refugee of war from Russia, he came to the U.S. for a better life and has found one in song. He says of his rhymes, “All my songs are real. I write what I've been through and experienced through my life, and it’s all authentic. I give the fans a chance to get a small glimpse of my life.”

With that, he’s toured around the U.S. as well as in Japan and has been on the stages of all the larger venues in his new found hometown in Minnesota. Next up he’ll play a couple shows in May and June in Minneapolis, and is currently mapping out a college tour come the fall. Spreading the word is his main mission right now, aiming for the big leagues like MTV and BET along the way.

Those interested in hearing more from Dima Kash can check him and his music out online.

"Dima Kash pleas for justice in this week's Top 5 MN music videos"

We've had a few weeks to mourn Philando Castile and process the incident in Falcon Heights, but the highways here are still battlegrounds. Reports are that "Purple Rain" was played over the loudspeaker at the recent I-94 shutdown, bringing a momentary calm to what was a hectic and emotional evening.

In this week's Local Frames, one local rapper does his best to eulogize Philando Castile while maintaining his spirit of revolution, while four other artists do their best to give the public the pleasant distraction they so badly need right now.

Dima Kash — "Open Your Eyes" (feat. Monaye Love)

Russian-born Twin Cities rapper Dima Kash had a powerful and visceral reaction to the police slayings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, and he decided to process his outrage and grief into "Open Your Eyes" — a three-minute screed against a system that protects killers in uniform from answering for their crimes. A warning before you watch, the video contains some graphic footage of real police attacks against civilians.

It's a challenging watch, but one that's necessary if there's any hope of empathizing with the oppressed black community in Minnesota and beyond. Through Kash's words and St. Paul singer Monaye Love's heartbroken plea, the visuals become more tragic than they could possibly be in a newscast.

"We must stand and unite as one," Kash said in an email with the video. "Stop the violence." If only it were so simple. - Jerard Fagerberg

"Dima Kash uses unique journey to inspire fans through new single ‘Can’t Breathe’"

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Dima Kashevatsky has had an interesting journey.

The hip-hop artist known as Dima Kash who makes his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, traces his origins back to Russia. At age six he moved to the U.S. with his family who were refugees of war. His time in the states as a child were filled with struggle, until he discovered that he had a talent for wordplay and making music. Today his path has taken him from Russia to America and even to Japan as he tours and promotes his music.

“I’ve loved music all my life,” he said. “My uncle had a band in Israel and that was kind of the first time I thought about writing music. I started writing love songs when I was 13; started making beats when I was 14; and by the age of 15 I started falling in love with hip-hop. That was my thing after that. I loved the gritty-ness and the real-ness of that type of music. I love that it’s the kind of music that allows you to speak your mind. Back then there weren’t any other songs like that – it was all love or partying and nothing really about the struggle. But the music that brought out the struggle was hip-hop, and I came from the struggle so it spoke to me.”

His most popular single – with more than 200,000 plays and counting on YouTube and Vevo, and more than 1.8 million plays on Spotify – is called “Can’t Breathe,” which is a track that he said serves as a testament to that journey and everything he’s been through in the music industry over the years – the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s a song that came about while spending so much time on the road – an outpouring of his feelings that ended up on paper and eventually found its way into a song.

“The feel is a mellow vibe, but it’s very lyrical and fast-paced rapping,” Dima Kash said. “The hook on it is a sample from Bebe Rexha’s ‘Can’t Stop Drinking About You.’ It has a little mix of techno and hip-hop – kind of like trap in a way. But it’s different. It’s not something you’d heard on a daily basis.”

Kash said it’s a song that will be one of the singles on an album he’s called “Kash Over Everything” – which is available for purchase on digital download sites such as iTunes and Spotify. It’s also a song that has earned him some respect in the hip-hop circles of late – including garnering a Hip-Hop Artist of the Year Award for the State of Minnesota, presented by the Twin Cities Urban Music Awards. He hopes to parlay the success from that single into more appearances at festivals and concerts, such as the Soundset event that happens in Minnesota every May.

In the meantime, he continues to work on creating new music. He’ll follow up his single with a new mixtape entitled “The Last Prophet” that he hopes to release no later than April. He’s also working on music videos for many of his singles that he will post to his YouTube page. Fans who want to check out more of his music can visit his Soundcloud page, or follow him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates. He’s also active on Snapchat under the handle @theonlydimakash. - Ashley Burnett

"Dima Kash - "Blow""

The shrill keys that open Mobb Deep’s infamous single “Shook Ones” are so recognizable that they’re almost uninterpretable.

Sure, they pulled it off in 8 Mile, but the instrumental for “Shook Ones” has always been one that even talented rhymers have, ironically, shied away from for fear of being held to the standard of the original. Dima Kash ain’t shook, though. In his new video for “Blow,” the Russian-born Minnesota transplant utterly transforms “Shook Ones,” creating his own vision on top of Havoc’s iconic beat.

Unafraid of trampling sacred ground, Kash makes the song all about him, showcasing his tight verbals in shots that show him afront Minneapolis landmarks like U.S. Bank Stadium so that all who are offended by his vision of the song know where they can come find him. - Jerard Fagerberg

"Minnesota Hip-Hop Artist Dima Kash Releases New Single “All Night”"

Russian Hip-Hop Artist who has immigrated to the states at an early age, Dima Kash, is no stranger to the game and has paved his own fiery lane through heating up stages worldwide for big league acts including Future, T.I, Nelly, Twista, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Young Thug to name a few. Back for another round throughout his latest single release, “All Night”, Dima Kash lyrically makes it known that he is earning his throne through long days and dark nights that showcase that his artistry is no game and he isn’t simply making his name in the business for the fame. Dima ends “All Night” with entrancing instrumentals that steer from the tracks intention which makes it palpable that Dima is a genre-bending entity of his own and maintains a level and open head when it comes to laying down the law in the studio.

As an award-winning and prestigious Hip-Hop extraordinaire, Dima Kash has had deeply personal interventions which have led him to choose to pay keen attention to his misapprehension which in turn has transformed torturous moments into the raw power to reveal his woes within lyrical fire. Capable of delivering insane Hip-Hop breakdowns and the perfect balance between the first-generation Hip-Hop attitude laced with a modern feel, Dima Kash is changing the world of Hip-Hop as we speak. Dima has paid his dues and walked through the ringer with his head held high. As an artist who has lived an existence full of unrelenting persistence, Mr. Kash serves as an example and inspiration for fellow artists attempting to consistently put out lyrical heat.
Dima Kash is hot and it’s going to be tough to cool him off over the years to come. Do yourself a favor and check out Dima Kash on Soundcloud. - Tattoo.com (Jessica Golich)

"Multifaceted Entrepreneur and Hip Hop Artist Dima Kash Shares His Passions, Drops Biz Knowledge and Reveals Big Super Bowl 2018 Secret"

Q: Hi Dima Kash! It’s a pleasure to interview you today and hear more about how your career started and what inspires you. Can you tell our readers a little bit about your background and how you ended up getting in the music industry.

I am an award winning hip hop artist, songwriter, performer, entrepreneur, business owner, investor, and last but not least, I am a proud Father. I have performed on tour all across the USA & Japan, as well as performing alongside some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop, including Post Malone, Future, Wiz Khalifa, T.I, G-Eazy, MGK, 2 Chainz, Grammy Award Winners Bone Thugz N Harmony and many more.

My hit single “Can’t Breathe” has over 2.4 million streams on Spotify and was on the Global Viral List alongside artists such as Drake, Rihanna, Adele, and more. I’ve always had a love for music, and for business. Now I am just combining the two, and building my multiple streams of income.

Q: Wow you’ve worked with some classic big hitters and new hot artists. I’m a fan of pretty much everyone you named. You are a superstar in your own right as well Dima. You are definitely building your empire. How do you differentiate yourself from others who are hip hop artists?

I am very much different. I think it’s safe to say that I am the only Russian Jew who came to the United States as a refugee of war that is in the Hip-Hop Industry in America. Outside of music my current investment is the only one of its kind. I’ll hold off on the details until the end of the interview...

Q: Yes your story is unique and no one else in the hip hop industry has one like it. Nice! I cannot wait for you to reveal it. What wisdom would you give to someone asking for advice about becoming an entrepreneur?

Get ready for a lot of sleepless nights, blood, sweat, and tears. Being an entrepreneur is hard work, and you have to fully dedicate and commit yourself to whatever it is you’re doing at all times. You must treat your business as if it is your baby.

Q: That’s some great wisdom coming from someone who is creating their own entrepreneurial path. We are entering an era where everyone is interested in multiple income streams. How does one decide on a business to pursue?

I’m not sure that you choose the business as much as it chooses you. In order to really be successful you have to love what you do. Whatever it is that you do there are different variations of that same profession you can utilize and develop more sources of income from.

Q: Very true. Our purpose finds us, we don’t find it. What is your business all about?

I have multiple businesses. I own a Record Label (World Class Entertainment). I have a clothing line (Kash Over Everything). I am an Award Winning Hip-Hop Artist. I run a Medical Transportation Company, as well as a Limo Company, which has won best Limo Company in Minnesota 6 years straight.

I invest in multiple ventures, one of which is The Limo Jet, which is the first of its kind in the world! We are hoping to reveal it to the world at the 2018 Super Bowl!

Dima Kash you are a well-rounded person with plenty of ambition and drive. I’m sure that your businesses will continue to thrive with you leading them! I cannot wait to see the Limo Jet debut at the 2018 Super Bowl. Thanks for sharing your story with our readers. Please keep us posted on your upcoming projects, singles, and progress of your business ventures. - Huffington Post (Jerica Glasper)

He began his writing career by focusing mainly on love songs and as he matured, his music changed with him.
