Dead End Job is a pop punk/punk band from Berkley, California. Made up of Colin McErlean on guitar and vocals, Octavious Valdes on bass, Alex Mendoza on drums and Miguel Gomez on guitar. The name Dead End Job comes from the location of their original practice space, a dead end road. Everyone in the band hated the name, but at their first gig they had to put down a name, so Dead End Job stuck.
The boys of Dead End Job find inspiration in the work of many different artists. They described their inspirations as a "beautiful melting pot just like America". They each got into music in different ways, from loving The Beatles to attending a performing arts school to being a skater kid with a guitar and a love for punk music to having an "Insatiable urge to play music". It all circles back to Green Day. Whether that connection with Green Day was simply falling in love after watching a recorded performance or having an uncle who used to drive the band's tour bus it was an undeniable love for a band that eventually brought Dead End Job together.
Dead End Job believes one of the most important parts of music is being able to connect both lyrically and musically. One of the most important things in life is music; it is something incredibly special to be able to have a such a strong connection to the music. To have something that can make a horrible day into an amazing day. As the band you have control over the crowd as long as you're on stage; it is a wonderful feeling to see 100 people "losing their minds" over your music. Alex Mendoza says when you play and write music and it all comes together you feel the "ghosts of past musicians smiling down on you. You get a feeling of rebellion, when you hear or play [a piece that clicks]. The rock n roll gods get stronger when you are inspired by them." Mendoza went on to say that the the feeling you get when your music all comes together the way you want it to is the same feeling you get when you fall in love. Berkeley’s post-pop punk band Dead End Job heads down to a LA on Saturday. Their fun sing-a-long songs and catchy pop-punk riffs make them a memorable experience. Doing a small SoCal DIY tour, this band deserves all the support they can get. Playing with some local acts like Odd Robot from Fullerton and Nate Funk from San Bernardino, this show is the spirit of the underground. Come support all acts and Bridgetown. If you haven’t been to the space, it is worth checking out and being a part of. - John Montoya

Despite there being no money in actually playing your instruments, (and playing punk rock no less!) 3 weird, broke, East Bay natives have decided to put it all on the line and fill your ears with that alternative sound you used to love so very very much back when it was cool to play rough, rocking, riffs. Dead End Job is the name, Alex, Octavious and Colin hope you're having a nice day
