The Storyteller is a nickname often used to describe Dayvia (Day-vee-ay) Gilchrist. Her music highlights life’s challenges, the weight of vulnerability, and human capacities to love and heal spiritually. Born in Augusta Ga., it was Dayvia`s grandfather who first introduced her to her love of sound. At a young age, she watched him travel and play organ at church. She decided that one day she would play drums beside him, and she eventually did. His passion and seemingly effortless talent encouraged her to tap even more into her own creativity. Dayvia started writing poetry and soon after began to craft beats to accompany those poems she had written.
Today, she writes, produces, and arranges many of her own pieces. Dayvia has written alongside writers such as Neyo, Dallas Austin, Drumma Boy and many others. She draws influence from an array of genres and eras, combining them with discussions around God, religion, and other topics many artists are hesitant to approach. She succeeds in weaving complex stories into haunting melodies that leave listeners anticipating more…
