Tulsa-based David Castro Band loaded up the van and went to Austin to record their sophomore effort, Highway’s Callin’. The end result is a hard hitting, hook driven rock & roll album showcasing a band that’s spent plenty of time behind the windshield and are ready to take it to the next level.
Employing the talents of Yellow Dog Studio’s Dave Percefull, who both produced and engineered the album, DCB was able to put out 10 new tracks that pack a punch similar to Green Day and Queens of the Stone Age, but with a flavor and foundation that clearly speaks to Oklahomans. Thematically, the tunes also lean heavily towards restless wandering, waking up in strange places, seeing different faces everyday – all situated perfectly around the album’s title. - Joe Mack - Currentland Magazine Vol. 11 No. 10
"Highway's Calling is a triumph for DCB. They've surpassed the songwriting and production of previous releases while their contemporaries are still stuck back on mile marker 2. Looks like the freedom of the road did DCB good and we reap the rewards with every listen." - Drew Mckenna - Radio DJ Tulsa, OK/Little Rock AR
"The musicianship on the songs is outstanding..." - Eugene Foley Entertainment
"His sound lies somewhere between Stephen Malkmus (of Pavement fame) and the late, great Bob Childers, and his songs are entwined with realities both harsh and human." - Currentland Magazine
"These guys will thrill you with their thoughtful original music and rootsy sensibilities. They will entice you with their sweet folk rock pheromones and Okie charisma. They will bolster your spirit and tickle your earbones." - Currentland Magazine Vol.6 No. 9

Bio
Hailing From Tulsa Oklahoma, David Castro Band is an original melodic, modern, bluesy, rock band. Their second album Highway's Calling has been called, "A hard hitting, hook driven rock & roll album showcasing a band that's spent plenty of time behind the windshield and are ready to take it to the next level." Joe Mack, Currentland Magazine. With an impressive 392 shows across 17 states in under four years and their work with Grammy winning industry personalities, David Castro Band has established themselves as a solid rock act.
David Castro Band (DCB) was founded in December 2008 with the intention of delivering honest and relatable music. By 2011 they had performed at such notable festivals as The Ink Life Tattoo & Music Festival, Tulsa International Mayfest, and Rocklahoma. That same year DCB toured twice and partnered with Mach Speed Technologies for mass distribution on MP3 players.
2012 birthed the band's first full length release entitled "Forward Parade". These songs were recorded at Valcour Sound (Broken Arrow, Ok) with Hank Charles as Engineer and mastered by Grammy Winner Adam Ayan (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Madonna, Rolling Stones) at Gateway Mastering (Portland, MN) The album garnered them accolades from regional media and two more tours. Having performed in the middle of the U.S. from top to bottom DCB ventured westward. Stops included Hard Rock & Quixote's True Blue (Denver CO), Route 66 Casino (New Mexico) and their first appearance at SWSX.
They began writing a follow up album as 2013 appeared and again toured westward twice adding such venues as Hard Rock (San Francisco) and The Go Lounge (San Diego). It was during these tours, as stops and time permitted, the recording process for "Highway's Calling" began. Recorded by the Grammy winning team at Yellow Dog Studios (Austin, TX) led by the project's Producer and Engineer Dave Perceful (Green Day, Seether, Blue October, Garth Brooks). Mastering was done by Grammy Winner Dave Collins (Soundgarden, Weezer, Black Sabbath, Madonna) at Collins Mastering (Los Angeles, CA).
