Bio
+Royal Oak, Michigan Fifty years ago, civil rights leaders seized an opportunity to move the nation away from segregation after centuries of oppression. Twenty years ago, music by Tupac Shakur was a lightning rod for controversy. Today, artist David Bigham embodies this uninhibited self expression. “I write what I feel, I tell the truth.” In a desperate attempt to “make people think and feel”, he uses his voice as an instrument in passionate protest, deeply examining his inner emotional landscape, relationships in his life, and the shortcomings of society. In a world where many embrace the superficial and material, David exposes himself as vulnerable and imperfect. “I start from absolute zero. I believe society has a fractured soul.” It is from this vantage point that David begins to reflect and protest. David’s appreciation for music began while listening to the radio on family trips to Toronto from his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. As an adolescent David was directly influenced by his mother’s classic rock collection and his father’s hip-hop albums. In high school he played in the school band. These experiences informed and moved David, but connecting with the neo-soul movement solidified David’s passion for self expression through music. In 2010, David teamed up with production duo Andrew Livanos and Mark Maksymiuk, forming I/O Records. The group was later joined by business manager Troy Apparicio. In 2014, David released his first studio project “Let It Out”, a collection of songs that put his unrepressed emotions on display. This was followed by a series of monthly song releases known as “Humpday Harmonies”. David’s work can be found on major online music platforms including SoundCloud, iTunes, and Spotify.
