Bio
A jazz drummer by training, Clark Moorman's music centers around his unique crackling tenor and a seldom-tuned nylon string guitar passed down from his late grandfather. His productions are fleshed out with gargling synths, detuned pianos, and a mix of live and programmed drums and percussion.
Moorman is from the official "middle of nowhere" -- a small town in eastern Montana near the Canadian border three hours from the nearest Walmart. At just 10, after a chance encounter with a spiky-haired church camp counselor by the name of Pat Wolf, Moorman stumbled onto a bright blue drumset, and alongside three friends, formed his first band. Ice Box played their first show at the local Catholic church’s fish fry. Their set consisted of then radio-topper, "All the Small Things", played twice in a row. Moorman spent the rest of his formative years drumming in short-lived jazz, screamo, and garage rock bands. He self-released his first single, "My Family Really Likes You" at age 26 in 2018.
Moorman draws equally from moody alternative (The Cure, Portishead), classic lofi (The Shaggs, Beat Happening), and stripped down art rock (The Velvet Underground, The White Stripes).
