That is until now. 29 year-old recording artist Christian is breaking the mold and making a name for himself, winning over one spectator turned fan at a time. He started writing poetry at 14 and shortly after performing spoken word at venues from all over the city. From the now defunct Mochalux Coffee, to the local church, this young man showed promise and demonstrated prowess not too many his age would possess. “More Than Meets the Eye” explains the juxtaposition that men of color oftentimes find themselves in unfairly, wanting people to get to know them for who they truly are instead of being typecast. The DFW area (Arlington, TX to be specific) is a rather unlikely place to find the next up and coming artist. Not too many have come out of the area to make it in the music industry. That is until now. 27 year old recording artist Christian is breaking the mold and making a name for himself, winning over one fan at a time. He started writing poetry at 14 and shortly after performing spoken word at venues all over the city. From the now defunct Mochalux Coffee, to the local church, this young man showed promise and demonstrated prowess that not too many his age would possess. true talent that could have some serious potential if he could further develop as a full fledged artist, a rapper. With this goal in mind, he started listening to his influences more often but not just for enjoyment as he did in the past at leisure, but now for inspiration. Artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Lecrae and Big K.R.I.T just to name a few. After quite some time preparing himself, he would finally get a chance to make his own song with a track Tailor made just for him. This song later became what we know today as the '90's esque R&B/Hip Hop hybrid ballad "I Can't Sleep." Enamored by how the song sounded upon hearing it playback for the first time, he started writing another record almost immediately. The song that followed was "More than meets the eye" which explains the juxtaposition that men of color oftentimes find themselves in when wanting people to get to know them for who they truly are instead of being typecast. Sonically reminiscent of A Tribe Called quest, De La Soul in their heyday, respectively, it provided the perfect backdrop to address such weighty and heady subject matter. Self-assured of his own potential at this point, he purchased a microphone to start recording at home, enabling him to practice more comfortably, thus more efficiently.. His debut project, "The Narrow Path EP" is now available for streaming!
