Discography

Chris Ams' discography reflects his deep love of classic soul music and his evolving artistry. In 2012, he was the lead vocalist on "Not Enough" and "Shipwrecked" for Back to Class: Volume 1. In 2017, he lent his voice to a live recording of "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" for the Tribute to Funk Brother Eddie Willis, paying homage to the Motown great. His 2020 release, Chris Ams and the Favorite States, features eight original tracks with Chris as the lead vocalist and collaborative writer. In 2022, he contributed background vocals for Back to Class: Volume 2. In 2024, Chris has expanded his solo career with two new singles, "Good Thing", and the upcoming "A Song", both written by him and produced by Buffalo Stack Productions in Beacon, NY.

Bio

Chris Ams is a multidisciplinary artist and musician based in Beacon, NY. As the former frontman of the Motown-inspired soul band, Chris Ams and the Favorite States, Chris has toured across the country and held a multi-year long residency at the legendary Bitter End in NYC. He has performed and recorded alongside some of the biggest names in soul including the Four Tops, The Funk Brothers, Dennis Coffey, James Jamerson Jr, and more. Chris was featured in the Don Was All Star Revue at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, performing live on stage with Melvin Davis, Spyder Turner, McKinley Jackson and Ken Knox. He and his band also formed a one-time mega group with The Funk Brothers touring band at Northern Lights in Detroit as a tribute to late Motown guitarist, Eddie Willis. His first album, Chris Ams & the Favorite States, released in March of 2020, is available to hear on all streaming services. 

Chris is currently working on his first independent solo project and recently released his debut single, Good Thing, in June, 2024. His next single, A Song, along with a music video and original cover art painting, will be released on September 20, 2024.
