Charity Ann is a young local singer songwriter, playing this week at the Last Concert Café, and gracing Kenny’s stage for a two tune sample of her wares, this evening. She has a strong voice with the locally familiar country blues twang, but singing in a rapid fire tempo, annunciating her words abruptly in the style of Ani de Franco. She performed her own tune “Changing” and one written by a friend for her to sing called “Quicksand”. She is a budding talent and worth checking out if you get half the chance. - Houston Music Review

Charity Ann: Singer/Songwriter/Performer (www.CharityAnnMusic.com)
Charity Ann was born and raised in Texas and remained in the Houston area throughout her youth. During her career as a performer, however, she left the United States to work as a musician overseas. At the age of 18, Charity was discovered playing her original music at a local venue and chose to go on the road with The Kendrick Band; she spent a year and a half in Korea as the band's lead singer and rhythm guitarist. She signed a contract with MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) to entertain United States military troops overseas. Her career as a solo artist continued, and Charity showcased her original compositions in venues and on the radio in Europe and worked for USO as an entertainer.
Charity's talents are unique, and in the past few years, she has composed some of her best material. She is also well-versed in classic covers such as Etta James's At Last and Janis Joplin's "Down on me". Her unmatched vocal quality and gut-wrenching honesty keep listeners on their toes. She is a versatile performer with an eclectic style, and the passion with which she expresses her soundtrack to life is breathtaking and mesmerizing. Her music is edgy yet timeless, bold yet tactful, and suited for audiences both young and old. This girl is truly the entire package!
Along with this wonderful talent and songwriting ability comes a passion for helping others. In her spare time, Charity supports local non-profit organizations in her hometown. She has also given speeches in her community to promote awareness of domestic violence and teach about helping women in crisis.
Charity is not only a gifted singer/songwriter but also someone who uses her talents to help others. She believes the most influential people in this world are those who realize that the importance of their gifts lies not in personal gain but in the ability to help those in need. Without a doubt, you will fall in love with her both on and off the stage. It is astounding to think that this young performer has already acquired over ten years of experience in her craft. There are certainly wonderful things around the corner for Charity Ann.
