Today we’d like to introduce you to Chans Thomas.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chans. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From a very young age, I loved singing. I grew up singing in church, daycare, on the playground at recess, you name it. It was at the age of 14 that I began to take it a lot more seriously. I auditioned for the Stellar Gospel Awards youth choir and got the chance to go on an all expense paid trip to Nashville, Tennessee to sing for artist award nominees. That experience ultimately shifted my perspective on what singing could potentially be for me; a full-time business/career.
Since then, I’ve been in productions such as Chicago the Musical and Houston’s, “Motown Revue” at Miller Outdoor Theatre, and participated in choirs, girl groups, worship teams, and now I am a solo artist releasing my first EP entitled, “The Cultured Christ” in Fall 2018. I am excited to share my gift and music with Houston and beyond! - Voyage Houston
Since the release of Chans’ debut single “Inductive Reasoning” the response has been beyond all our expectations, we are incredibly grateful. How we managed to acquire fans as far out as in Australia is both exciting and intriguing? All this success makes me very excited to tell you what i’m about to announce in this blog. Today, I get the privilege to present, not just one, but two cool offerings to our music fans around the world. Today is the eve of Chans Thomas’s debut EP launch, “The Cultured Christ will be available on all platforms at midnight tonight (US)!

If Christ walked the earth today, what would he sound like? Chans Thomas answers that question from her own unique musical perspective with the release of her debut EP featuring Live Out Loud band. Pulling from influences of jazz, neo soul and gospel, she creates her own lane for Christian music with catchy introspective songs like “Inductive Reasoning” and bold declarations of the gospel like “Romans Road”. All in all, the songstress and six piece ensemble come together to illustrate an uncompromising Savior with a sound that is refined, enlightened, artistically and intellectually aware; “The Cultured Christ”.

Chans Thomas is a Houston native singer/songwriter with a unique approach to the Christian music genre. Influenced by the styles of gospel, neosoul, hip hop and jazz, she discovered her niche to be a fusion of those sounds with content inspired by her faith. Chans had her first professional opportunity to sing with the Stellar Awards Youth Choir at the age of 14, and went on to perform in musicals, gospel groups, and The Motown Revue. She served as worship leader for several years, and also had the pleasure to lead worship for the 2018 Legacy Conference in Houston, Texas. Chans is now a solo artist with a mission to creatively communicate Christ to the culture. From churches to cafes and lounges, Chans believes all platforms can be used to make Christ known and yet be culturally relevant. Chans debut EP features Live Out Loud band named and its "The Cultured Christ", a Christian neosoul jazz fusion project which will come out later this month!
