Carla has 10+ years experience as a “Song-trepreneur” a self-dubbed term Carla came up with to describe her profession. Over the course of her career, Carla has been able to establish a steadily growing name for herself, increasing her fan base one person at a time. Her no rush approach to succeed in music has allowed Carla to strategically hone her skills and master her craft. Carla has a multitude of talents and singing is only one. She has been said to be one of the best lyricist in northern California, if not the world…
She has written songs local and some national artists, such as R&B singer Howard Hewitt, the late Robert Brookins of Earth Wind and Fire, and acclaimed Jazz artist Kim Waters. Carla’s music has been featured in local productions, such as the award winning musical “Let’s go”; “The Doctor’s In” and “DreamTools”, which are educational videos produced by UC Davis hospital and Sacramento School Districts for the ILP program which promotes skills for emancipating foster youth. Carla has also received an honorable mention by Billboard Music Awards for her song “In Care of Me” which she penned after the loss of her mother, in an effort to promote good health and healthy life choices.
Carla’s passion for her community has helped her to both stay grounded and elevate her career. An example of Carla’s commitment is the dedication of her latest album “Domestic Disturbance” which is an entire CD devoted to the awareness and prevention of domestic violence. Carla pledges to donate any proceeds from her CD Domestic Disturbance to Domestic Violence Agencies and Shelters in California through the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and the Moby S.O.S. fund.
In addition to her efforts to bring awareness to domestic violence, Carla has worked with many outstanding organizations that provide services to the community by donating her time and talents to help raise funds and awareness for various causes.
It is Carla’s belief that the pursuit of her dream is not a chase nor a race, but a journey. She has been able to persevere despite many challenges. As a very talented and seasoned artist, Carla understands that each trial brings her closer to triumph, as she continues to step into the light of her destiny.
