FreeFall is a short story chronicling Cam James relationships with women. From the point of reluctantly chilling at the strip club with his boys, âFreeFall (The Prologue)â single. Cam James illustrates the dynamics of the game from getting curved because of his reputation as a rapper in âI Donât Like Rappersâ and hooking up out of town in âWait For Itâ an âStandby (The Exposition)â.
Things get dark when Cam questions the authenticity of his relationship in âToo Lateâ, âLove Me Not (Climax)â and âCatalystâ. On âAmnesiaâ the relationship dissolves, but Cam James comments: âDonât release it if you still madâ. With feelings still lingering Cam boasts about the exes he has on queue and how he doesnât care about his recent exes lame rebound. The lover scorned shows signs of fading on the final track âNo Juice (Epilogue)â, but itâs led him to drowning in liquor with no juice: âWhenever Iâm thirsty pass that drinkâ. In the end he even volunteers to hit the strip club. A clear contrast from Cam James demeanor in the beginning of the project.
The skits and the exclusive production add atmosphere to FreeFallâs popular rap subject matter and gives Cam a opportunity to set himself apart from the high capacity of aspiring rappers in his next project.

Itâs just one of them days where we get lucky with another interview. Today, we get Behind the Nines with Cam James, aka The Concept, and what we like to call him, the lyrical one. It was an honor to do this interview and itâs always fun choppin it up with him on his twitter. From our experience, he is a real down to earth good fellow with a killer work ethic. Follow him and youâll see what I mean. More recently, Camâs been living in the studio working on some lyrical whips for the dome and we canât wait till we get our hands on it!
First off, before we get to the nitty gritty interview, hereâs a little something something about the lyrical one:
Hometown: Orlando, Florida
Birth Year: 1990
Ethnicity: Black in the purist form
Record Label: Indie artist, but interested in Stoneâs Throw or Mass Appeal.
Now without further ado lets get Behind the Nines with Cam James.

Drop the sirens up in here, right now! Itâs a new week of #musicmonday, and boy do we have something special for you today. O yea, you gon learn today! Itâs our first feature of Cam James, the lyrical one, aka The Concept; with his No Applause EP produced by Remot, heâs bubbling quietly and ready to blow as we speak.
Almost forgot to mention that itâs 4/20⌠Not only is todayâs joint a nicely packed fatty with a #risickulous beat produced by Remot, itâs also a two for one. We say that because thereâs a profound intermission at around 1:30 (Dave Chappelle) before he drops another mind breaking verse on a whole new track!
Idol Thoughts Part II by Cam James is a lyrical masterpiece that defines hunger in its purest form. His words are meticulously crafted and driven by his hunger to revive hip hop without all the superficial bullshit of money cars hoes. The track exposes the lack of artistry that is pumping through the radio waves, and the drought in relevant content that promotes change and hunger in an individualâs lifestyle and way of thought. One of my favorite lines comes straight out of the beginning of the first verse and it captivates my attention for the rest of the song:
Fuck the Kardashians I ainât keepinâ up wit
the paparrazzi pics been makinâ me sick
n I feel like we conducted, experiments of the social type
of what people fuck witâ, hopinâ yâall know that
without the makeup all these people busted
Nicki ass fake, but yâall be actinâ,
as if she packinâ supernatural woman assets
like Angela Bassett, Badu, Adina Howard matched it
Mya been all natural, goddesses livinâ action
loved Toni Braxton, what happened to all the singers
I feel like we lackinâ talent and the ambition to max it
Yes, Cam James is ferrealz and heâs only getting started. Youâd be surprised, but most of his joints on his Soundcloud is straight from his lab at home without professional equipment. Heâs finally gotten sometime in the studio, and I can only imagine what his sounds are going to be like in the very near future. Check out the artist links above, and make sure you preach this out to all the hip hop heads in your vicinity because this shit right here, this shit right here⌠itâs fire.
Two more things we need to mention. One, he has a new video, Paradigm Part I that deserves some love, please check it out here. Two, we have an exclusive interview with the man himself coming real soon, keep your eyes peeled, and stay tuned. If you love it, share it because thatâs what people do. - Covrd Up
Although I am uncharacteristically late with this track, it has been two months since Cam James released some new music. With more on the way, he turned to his Bandcamp to drop this new personal track titled âUnsureâ. Cam lets a lot of stuff off his chest over some Chrome Sparks production. You can listen to the track below, and also peep Camâs past projects on all digital retailers now. Power moves being made by Mr. James. - Fashionably Early

A group of young women walked the length of Atlantaâs Edgewood Avenue Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8). Although the sun was still out and the A3C Festival grounds had just opened for business, these attendees in particular were already thinking of the headliner.
âMidwest shit!â one screamed out. The other three parroted her, âMidwest shit! Midwest shit!,â before dissolving into giggles.
Yes, indeed. Saturday afternoonâs 1996 stage by Mass Appeal was one of the most anticipated all week. Somehow, festival organizers found a way to not only bring the OG rap veterans down to A3C from across the nation, but they also incorporated a ton of younger artists to do a tribute set to the critically acclaimed 1996 Outkast album, ATLiens.
Redman was the first artist to hit the stage, and as the crowd filed in, Funk Doc sprung into classic joints like âPick It Upâ and âTonightâs Da Night.â He leapt across the platform, never missing a syllable -- clear and polished with his delivery and the audience was enthralled. The energy of the space resonated, although it was still early. At one point, testing crowd participation, Red asked everyone to throw a middle digit in the air and all complied. One woman was hesitant and he called her out on the mic.
âWhat you mean you canât do that? Yeah, you too. Put that finger up,â he grinned, then, âSay âF--k you, Redman!ââ
He moved into âIâll Bee Datâ and âDa Goodness,â from his 1999 LP Docâs the Name 2000. The executive producer of that album, Erick Sermon, was also on the 1996 bill. But Keith Murray dropped in first and Red graciously shared his set with his Def Squad brother. âThe Most Beautifullest Thingâ rang out through the grounds and everyone bobbed. Once Sermon evened the crowd out with âMusic,â some waited in anticipation to get live all over again and Red fulfilled that desire.
âIâm gonna do a song now and I want yâall to do Method Manâs part. Aiight? If yâall canât, Iâma tell Meth when we get back to New York.â
One young man within earshot was overheard, âItâs âRockwilder.â Itâs âRockwilder.ââ His friend nodded. âItâs gotta be. Itâs gotta be âRockwilder,ââ he repeated incessantly. The opening bass notes dropped and the crowd seemed to drop and rise in unison. It was pretty awesome.
Between sets, frequent Big K.R.I.T. collaborator Big Sant was spotted close to a table where Bun B greeted fans. A few feet away, some industry heads pondered as to whether or not this meant that K.R.I.T. would be joining the Texas legend onstage. That wouldnât be the case, although the Trill OG did knock out his verse to âCountry Shit.â He also performed his verse from Webbieâs âGimme That.â
With the ease of a seasoned emcee, Bun moved through âPushinâ,â âLet Me See Itâ and âYouâre Everything.â This crowd of festival-goers was much more laid back, the smell of weed wafted through the air and as his set went on, the scent grew stronger. It wasnât until âInternational Players Anthem (I Choose You)â where people seemed to shake out of their trance and hit a two-step collectively.
The ATLiens tribute followed Bun Bâs set and whoever organized the stage put some major thought into this one. From older artists like Chase N Cash to brand new emcees (Chilly Chills) and those in the middle, like 3D Natee, the entire lineup showcased rappers reciting the lyrics to the entire album before a live band. Scotty ATL had a standout performance of âMainstreamâ and while ATLiens isnât the type of album one would jump around to, the vibe is powerful enough where many simply swayed and rapped along.
Too Short was up next, repping for the West Coast and his fans came out in droves. He performed a catalog spanning his entire career -- from 1987âs âFreaky Talesâ and âDonât Fight the Feelingâ to his verse on Wiz Khalifaâs âOn My Level.â Next to Def Squad, Too Short had the most energetic crowd all night. Music fans know exactly what to expect from the Oakland pioneer.
âOnly two things I want from all the ladies,â he started. âI wanna see some asses wiggling and some titties bouncing.â
The beat from âShake That Monkeyâ vibrated from the stage through the audience and women gleefully followed orders.
âThirty years later baby,â Short shared. âSome of yâall n----s was like little ass kids in the car seat bumping Too Short, your momma and daddy was bumping Too Short, which means you been bumping Too Short your whole muthaf---ing life and all I gotta say is that I truly do appreciate that shit yâall. I appreciate the career Iâve had.â
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony capped off the 1996 stage with a number of hits, albeit missing a couple members, but Krazy Bone, Flesh N Bone and Layzie Bone were in attendance. As suspected, people filled the festival grounds for Bone Thugs and they all seemed to be from the Midwest.
There were a few instances where attendees were overheard wistfully reflecting, âMan, I was a kid when this came out. Man!â The group had a DJ that did much more talking onstage than they would but the threesome still put on a solid show. From âFirst of the Monthâ to âCrossroads,â âFor the Love of Moneyâ to âNotorious Thugs,â Bone held it down. The perfect end to an evening proving that with the right people, 1996 can honestly feel like yesterday. - Billboard
#CJFreeDay Freestyles continue.
Can we all agree that Chance The Rapperâs âNo Problemâ was probably the club song of the year? I mean everything that joint come on its a party. Hopefully something will come from it in February when Chance makes his way to The Grammyâs.
Surprisingly I havenât heard many remixes to said single, but today we came across one from the homie Cam James that was right on time. Listen as the Atlanta based emcee vents on police brutality on âYaâll Knowâ below. - Str8 Out Da Den
Atlanta-native Cam James is quite possibly the most promising of all, with a discography that includes two full-length LPs in 2017. What's so remarkable about James isn't necessarily his flow or his production, but rather, his voice. James's voice is one that, behind the right instrumental, sounds eerily familiar, yet is still completely original and authentic. Under the right circumstances and exposure, Cam James is likely a name you will see daily in the near future, but, for now, enjoy the obscurity of his figure while it lasts. - The Four Oh Five

Bio
Cam James is a storyteller. He was influenced by Nas, OutKast and 90's R&B; using that foundation to build his own sound. At Georgia Tech in 2011, he started turning his stories into music. These rough and unpolished sessions became cohesive projects over years of trial and error.
The resume is brief, but noteworthy. Cam has risen from dorm rooms to major stages, culminating in selections for some of the largest national music festivals in the late 2010s. Following a placement on BET's Being Mary Jane in late 2017, he released his sophomore studio album, leviTAPE to critical acclaim. He has since self-funded and organized a sellout showcase for his album featuring a live band.
Cam currently stars in a 10-country tourism campaign for Visit The USA.
