Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Brad Shank: I started recording and performing professionally in 2014. Since then I have released a full length LP, a mixtape, and a collaborative EP with my partner J Reno. I have performed with countless hip hop legends on a number of stages. I’ll be releasing my 2nd full length LP this summer and will be appearing on a handful of new projects coming out over the next year as well.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Don’t pay too much attention to what others are doing if it doesn’t involve you. It’ll distract you from achieving your goals. Always keep working to stay as independent as possible. There’s a lot you can learn from watching other professionals work, but your own experience will determine the longevity of your career.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
As an artist with no record label affiliations, no financial investors, and minimal sponsorships the hardest part of my career is maintaining financial stability. Many in my position work multiple jobs to maintain an active tour schedule and meet their budget criteria. It takes a lot of work to move the machine so you can’t be lazy.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
When trying to build your audience and reach people, the best thing you can do is make yourself easy to find. Having a website is key to promoting your products and your brand. To make yourself easier to find you should use the same name/handle on all pages and websites. Mine is KnowbodyFamouz.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m from Windsor, Ontario, Canada and my city represents me and my team to the fullest! We work with every up and coming artist around us to make sure they always have a studio to record in and a stage to perform on. Our scene’s growing exponentially and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
A year from now I hope to be touring more of Canada and the U.S. I also want to see our Certified Lunatic clothing take off. I’ll continue an active tour schedule and release new music while I work on making that happen. I’ve been stepping up my graphic design skills and am also looking to get more involved with the production side of the industry.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My inspiration growing up was all the icons of hip hop that paved the way for us to get here. Anything with a message or purpose that made you want to stand up for something. I look up to anyone who can remain humble under all the pressure it takes to succeed in this game.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
The music coming out today is all singles. I’m not saying I don’t like, it but it’s very rare that you find an album coming out today that you can listen to on repeat front to back. I find new music in the underground is far more creative and worth listening to.

The Canadian underground hip hop artist from Windsor, Ontario represents the infamous Lunatic Music Group and is the showrunner at the entertainment company called Knowbody Famouz Entertainment. Since 2014 Brad has released 3 projects, 2 solo and one collaborative EP with his partner J Reno. Together they’ve also started a clothing line named Certified Lunatic Clothing to accent their musical style and taste. He’s graced the stage with a long list of top tier performing acts, was just nominated for Faygoluver’s Breakout Artist Of The Year, and was recently featured on ReelWolf Record’s heavyweight album The Underworld 2.

Moving forward Brad’s about to release his 2nd LP titled Wasteland that’ll be making the promo rounds on tour this summer. The follow up will be his debut album titled Juggernaut. Additionally he’ll be on board, for select dates, for Insane Clown Posse’s first Canadian tour in over 17 years. Moreover, he plans to travel to a historical location this summer to film a full length video for one of his upcoming songs from his record.
