Big-Chief & The Defenastrators are a hip-hop/funk band that is reestablishing hip-hop as a meaningful musical means by which true lyrical content can be conveyed. Musically rewriting the "Rules" of hip-hop by having a much more organic live feel as apposed to a DAW driven studio feel. Khalif (Big-Chief) Neville, lead vocalist, keyboardist and the son of famed New Orleans musician Charles Neville of The Neville Brothers has a stylistic gamut the likes of which is not often seen. Aside from the Hip-Hop/Funk sounds of his band he also produces his own contemporary, EDM styled instrumentals, as well as old school Hip-Hop beats all of which he raps over. In addition to his clout as a producer he also has gained some recognition as a Jazz pianist. Playing with his father certainly earned him some stripes as a player but more importantly gained him some very deadly knowledge on the subject of composition which just adds to his versatility as a band leader and all around musician. Big-Chief & The Defenastrators newest release The Art of Defenastration Pt. 1 Combines a bit of all of Khalif (Big-Chief) Neville's stylistics and is fixin' to make some noise.
