Bio
Not many singer songwriters know how to play almost every instrument, well, and by ear at that. Not to mention know how to conduct the whole entire LA Philharmonic Orchestra. Out of high school, Bernardo “Bird” Targett, got an Opera Scholarship to Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa. After a year he realized he didn’t want to be taught how to write or sing by understanding other artists. He wanted to find his inner artist first. So Bird then started up his Alternative rock/pop music career in Chicago where he was the lead singer/guitarist for the band Hummer, and playing constantly with bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, etc.
After a few years of heavy playing, recording, and touring, he decided to move to LA where they had a bigger label presence. One year after his move, Peter McCabe found him and he stirred up a huge Major Label buzz on Bird and his new band BIRD3. They rented out the Whisky A go go for 1 week so that all the record label execs who were asking about BIRD3 can come in to see them play. Shortly after this showcase at The Whisky, BIRD3 decides to go with a start up, Immergent records, because of the very convincing A&R Mark Mazzetti. It was run by mostly A&M executives at time. Then, BIRD3 hits studio D at the Henson lot to record their new self-titled album, BIRD3. The record was produced by Grammy award winner Richard Dashut (Fleetwood Mac) and Nick Didia (STP, Train). After touring with the Cult, Veruca Salt, Stabbing Westward, Monster Magnet, and others, they get a call to pack it in during the Warped Tour. Bird was not happy and got out of the deal, but not before getting their song “Forgot your name” on the Van Wilder soundtrack and playing the premier. THE SONG CURRENTLY HAS 272,000 HITS ON YOUTUBE!!!
After a while doing solo records and working with many producers and writers, Randy Jackson finds him and starts recording a new album with him back at A&M studios. Unfortunately, after most of it was done, Randy had to focus on American Idol and they went their separate ways.
Bird then started work on a solo album with N.U.M. (Nuthin’ Under a Million) His new sound with them was more melodic and explosive than ever before. “I feel like I was at home with N.U.M., they have been the only ones who have understood me musically, and the result from this can only be the best.” Bird goes on to say. "He fits perfectly with the trends of today and has a timeless sound that will live long through the decades to come" says TB from NUM. Then suddenly and unexpectedly Bird had to move to Birmingham AL after a terrible accident in his family. On January 1, 2013, Bird's Brother in law passed in New Orleans. His new record, "A Walk In His Shoes", is dedicated to his Brother in Law Alex. It hits all the levels of family and friendship. We love you little bro. LETS TAKE THIS RECORD TO THE TOP! LETS START IN NASHVILLE!!!
