With its pulsing bass, its lively horns, and some lurking punk-rock chaos, we at first thought we were listening to a Fugazi cover band upon hearing “Peace,” by N.Y.C. quartet, Believe In Ghost!
But we detected something else that really piqued our interest, and that was fulfilled when we heard the peaceful, gentle “PIllow Talk,” especially its lead vocal falsetto that climbs so well, and the angelic whispering choir that backs him up, and the saxophone and the wah guitar flavors. The singer almost scats/hums with vibrato. Finally, the foreboding blues shuffle “Firestarter” has great playing all around its terrific dynamic changes. On the downside, the song is not altogether catchy, but it’s a strong mood generator, for sure. - Music Connection

New York City-based alt-rock band Believe in Ghost! is an act like no other, bringing a kaleidoscope of rap, funk, blues, and more to stages and studios across the Northeast. Drawing on each member’s influences, their music defies easy categorization and pushes to find something new. Their live sets flow seamlessly from genre to genre even as the instruments and microphones change hands mid-way through the performance.
Since BIG!'s formation in 2019, they have performed hundreds of times and released more than 10 studio recordings, building a strong local and Internet following through determination to make their music heard. Veterans of the NYC scene, BIG! regularly performs all over the metropolitan area, with recent highlights at Rockwood Music Hall, Coney Island Brewery, and Broken Goblet Brewery’s 9th Annual “GobletStock.” BIG! has headlined the Astoria Music Collective's Summer and Fall Festivals, and featured in the 2023 Montauk Music Festival.
Members of Believe in Ghost! include: Billy Conahan (vocals, guitar, bass), Tyler Clayton Appel (saxophone, guitar), Rocco Stroker (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards), and Rick Martorelli (drums).
