"Satellte Rodeo is a talented country-rock band that has a lot of potential, based on its recordings of 'Following Stars' and 'Satellite Rodeo,' both released in January. 'Following Stars' has an infectious beat and a catchy melody that keep you engaged throughout the song. It is highlighted by the strong vocals of lead singer Becca Bessinger and two fine guitar solos by Pete Ballou. This song is sure to be a crowd pleaser whenever it's perfomed and could be a big hit with some radio airplay. 'Satellite Rodeo' has more of a country feel to it, again with strong lead vocals by Bessinger. It also features some nice harmony singing by Bessinger and Ballou, and Ballou's work on harmonica enhances it as well. This may be the type of song that grows on you the more you listen to it. I write songs that I hope other artists will sing. In 2012 my song "Life Begins Right Here" won Top 5 in the country category of the Great American Song Contest. I also perform in a band called Satellite Rodeo. Unique, compelling storytelling is both the lyrical and musical focus. Style is a mix of folk, rock, pop, and country. Hooky and harmonious. Inflluences include Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Gram Parsons, Leonard Cohen, REM, Rolling Stones, The Beatles.
Other accomplishments of mine include placements in The Dallas Songwriters Association Songwriting Competition and Song of the Year Songwriting Competition as well as an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition.
