Bio
Joel Helenbolt found his stage name, Worthen, in the mountains above his hometown in Wyoming, where there's plenty of open space to reflect on the things in life we are all unsure of. His songwriting is a reflection of that introspection, often asking questions about life and faith that the most pious might consider sinful. These questions have made Worthen who he is an an artist, and can be heard in his honest and vulnerable vocals which bring up comparisons to artists like Johnny Cash, Glen Hansard and Hozier, which bellow over simple guitar melodies, keeping the focus on the dynamics of the stories being told and the heart being shown, flipping story lines through the use of a lo-fi mic soaked in reverb.
