Bio
Westerners is a self-proclaimed garage-a-delic indie rock band from Lawrence, Kansas. Not familiar with Lawrence? Neither was founder Mitchell Hewlett when he arbitrarily moved there in 2013 to start the band with long time friend and musical confidant, Josh Hartranft. In that time Westerners have gone on to tour 12 states, playing hundreds of shows. They've had the opportunity to open for some immensely talented groups like Cloud Nothings, The Good Life, Peelander Z, Murder By Death, Shonen Knife, and many incredible up and comers like The Wytches, Tancred, Futurebirds, Pujol, Sleepy Kitty, and Your Friend. Summer of 2017 saw the band release it's debut album "Reoccurring Dream Theme" on Kansas City indie label, The Record Machine, garnering radio play on college stations across the midwest. Often compared to bands like My Morning Jacket, Wilco, and Dr Dog, Westerners finds a way to teeter on the brink of several genres ranging from psychedelia to folk. With the last release being mostly material Mitchell had accrued over a long period of time, the band is in an exciting stage of exploration, relying on everyone's input and criticisms.
Westerners are currently working on an ep following up "Reoccurring Dream Theme"
