Bio
Weird Neighbours lead singer Brittany Henderson practiced with her mother, a trained vocalist, and began taking part in choruses and musical theatre at a young age. Still active in theatre, Brittany began writing blues-inspired songs on guitar after graduating high school, channeling her darkest moments of loss, poverty, and survival. James Jenkins started out as a saxophonist, playing in working bands as a teenager. He dropped out of high school at 16 only to be recruited into a university music program. James's passion for improvisation and jazz "standards" made him familiar with 1940s pop music, which left him yearning for songwriting. Brittany and James began writing together in 2014, discovering right away how much they inspired each other. Brittany switched from acoustic to electric guitar in order to avoid feedback problems on stage, and she quickly developed a jangly and textured style. James picked up the fretless bass, deciding that its likeness to the human voice would allow it to interact with Brittany's vocal melodies. Brittany and James asked long-time friend and fellow actor Ian Alexander to drum for Weird Neighbours in 2015. Ian brought with him a wild energy and touch of humour. The trio is currently recording an EP scheduled for release in June 2016.
